SummaryOwner manual supplement information added. As diesel engine passenger vehicles become more popular, auto manufacturers have seen an increase in the number of misfueling cases where diesel engine vehicles are mistakenly fueled with gasoline. The resulting fuel system contamination can lead to costly repairs that are not covered under warranty. As an additional safeguard to help prevent a gasoline fuel pump nozzle from being used to fuel a TDI® Clean Diesel engine vehicle, dealers will install a misfueling guard in the fuel filler neck of vehicles affected by this action. Additionally, a new fuel filler neck cap will also be installed. Please note: The misfueling guard is designed to prevent a gasoline fuel pump nozzle from entering a vehicle?s fuel filler neck, thereby reducing the risk of fuel system contamination from gasoline. Even with this guard installed, remind anyone who refuels the vehicle that it requires diesel fuel, and to double-check the fuel pump to ensure the correct fuel is selected before filling the tank.

SummarySupersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 10 number 10-02 dated September 14, 2010. Prior to engine replacement, any debris lodged in transferred assemblies must be removed. If the vehicle's engine experienced a serious mechanical problem, it is possible that small pieces of metal debris resulting from the mechanical problem may have become deposited in the intake manifold, air intake hoses, exhaust manifolds, exhaust down-pipes, turbocharger, supercharger, and/or intercooler. If these pieces are not removed prior to the installation and operation of the replacement engine, the pieces may be drawn into the combustion chamber, which can cause a knocking noise and subsequent serious engine damage.

Summarya faulty intake manifold may cause the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) on the instrument cluster to illuminate due to the presence of specific fault codes caused by this component and/or a faulty fuel injector may cause minor misfire conditions and, in turn, cause the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) on the instrument cluster to illuminate due to the presence of specific fault codes caused by this component. Please note that it is highly unlikely that your vehicle will experience an issue with both the intake manifold and/or multiple fuel injectors at the same time. In our continuing efforts to assure proper performance of Audi vehicles, your dealer will diagnose and replace a faulty intake manifold and/or a faulty fuel injector if necessary, at no cost to you as long as the vehicle remains within the time and mileage limits of this warranty extension. Please keep this letter with your Warranty booklet and deliver it to any new owner, along with the owner?s manual.
