SummaryCustomer Concern: The customer may desire a PCM software update. Perhaps the customer experiences an unwanted PCM behavior and errantly believes a PCM software update will help solve the perceived issue. Technical Concern: The calendar year 2017 software update for PCM4.1 is not compatible with MY17 Panamera (971) (which does have PCM4.1). In fact, this software update may make the PCM climate controls permanently inoperable.

SummaryCustomer Concern: There are reports of failed Porsche Car Connect (PCC) initializations. Technical Concern: Due to input handling in the VTS software, the Porsche Car Connect initialization fails. The ninth character in the VIN may be an ?X? (e.g. WP0AF2A7XHL123456). However, the system sees this ?X? character as invalid and does not transmit the installation code to the backend server. In this case, the initialization ends unsuccessfully. Additionally, the PCC portal does not register the failed attempt.

SummaryConcern: Abrupt, ?Harsh? Gear Shift Changes, particularly in first and second gears Information: Rough gear changes with unmatched engine and transmission revs can be attributed to an unadapted PDK. Transmission performance issues characterized by unmatched, abrupt shifts, particularly in first and second gears may require a driving adaption. Prior to the adaption drive, update PDK Software using the latest PT3G Version and perform a calibration. Successful calibration of the PDK is a prerequisite for the adaption drive.

SummaryInformation: This document updates information previously published in EQ 1105, EQ 1105, and EQ 1401. To provide stable voltage and sufficient current throughout certain service operations, you should connect the vehicle to a battery charger (sometimes referred to as a power supply). However, you may experience ECU programming and coding issues if the chosen battery charger has insufficient power. Many workshop manuals currently advise use of a battery charger with a 40 or 70 A current rating. However, with the increasing current requirements of modern Porsche vehicles, we recommend a battery charger capable of producing a minimum current of 90 A.
