ENGINE
I own a 2020 Infiniti QX50 that is included in NHTSA Recall 25V-437 for defective engine bearings that may cause sudden engine failure. My VIN has been confirmed by the dealer as part of the active recall. I have already noticed intermittent shaking at idle and a grinding sensation during acceleration, which are early warning signs listed for this defect. I am worried these symptoms indicate my engine may be starting to fail. My Infiniti dealer told me they “see the recall as active,” but that it is on hold and they cannot inspect or repair my vehicle at this time. They also stated they cannot provide me with a loaner or rental vehicle in the meantime. I believe this puts me, my family, and others on the road at risk because engine failure could occur suddenly while driving, leading to a crash. I am nervous to continue driving the vehicle, but I have no safe alternative since Infiniti has refused to provide a replacement vehicle until repairs are available. I am requesting NHTSA to investigate this delay and Infiniti’s refusal to provide a safe alternative vehicle while recall repairs are unavailable.

ENGINE
Pulled out into an intersection with limited visibility. Once I got into my lane I observed a car behind me that I had not seen. I tried to accelerate to avoid being hit. My car began making a knocking sound with loss of power. The other car went around me on the shoulder to avoid a collision. Infiniti of Birmingham (Alabama) says that one of the bearings in the engine spun and there is metal shavings in the oil pan. They say I need a new engine with only 68,000 miles. They are “unsure” if Infiniti will warranty the cost of repairs. Absolutely ridiculous! Please help!

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
The contact owns a 2020 Infinity QX50. The contact stated that while driving on the highway at 70 MPH, the vehicle started making an abnormal sound, and the vehicle stopped unintendedly. The contact was grateful that she was not involved in an accident because there was traffic nearby. The contact was able to continue driving the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be diagnosed; however, a cause for the failure was not found. Additionally, the contact stated that the instrument indicated that there was a vehicle nearby erroneously. The contact considered that the failure was caused by a glitch. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
1. COLLISION WARNING SENSOR ACTIVATED WHILE DRIVING IN THE #1 LANE( CLOSEST TO THE CEMENT HIGHWAY DIVIDERS) AND AGGRESIVELY BRAKED AND SLOWED WHILE DIVING AT 77 MPH. NOT SAFE!! 2. EVEN THOU I PURPOSELY TURN THE RADIO "OFF" WHEN EXITING MY CAR, UPON ENTERING MY CAR AFTER A SHORT DURATION OF TIME, THE RADIO TURNS "ON" WITHOUT ANY ASSISTANCE BY ME....VERY FRUSTRATING!! VEHICLE HAS BEEN INSPECTED BY THE LOCAL INFINITI DEALERSHIP....THEY'RE CLUELESS AND OF NO ASSISTANCE OR HELP.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST
Equipped with ProPILOT Assist and Intelligent Cruise Control inclusive of Lane Keep assist, traffic sign recognition, and Direct Adaptive Steering. Vehicle has just under 60,000 miles and still under warranty When in ProPILOT Assist/Intelligent Cruise Control, when hands leave the steering wheel, car failed to give a dash visual warning, sensory warning, or did not take control of the vehicle to bring it to a safe stop. This of course is a serious safety issue if the driver becomes incapacitated to the point of not being able to respond to the warnings. The car could obviously go through intersections without stopping or possibly get off course resulting in collision with other vehicles, structures or people. This first appeared on interstate highway travel on a trip to Florida in late November and bought in to Smith Infiniti of Hunstville, AL on [XXX] As of this date, [XXX], it has been in service department for nine (9) weeks with no correction of the failure. The dealer and Nissan technical representatives have attempted on numerous occasions and with numerous parts(some replaced 2 times) to fix. I was going 70 miles an hour on a highway with no cars around me. When the car suddenly breaks and beeped. It was very dangerous. I was in the center lane of a 3 Lane Highway with no one around.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Jan 25,2021 Highway 35 San Antonio Texas Display board lights turned off for a few seconds it made a click sound and the car turned off and turned back on for a few seconds, stalling the car. The automatic break was activated and deactivated at the same time. Trying to stop the car. This is the third time since octubre 2021 that this happens. My safety and the safety of the other drives was at risk, I can’t drive this car anymore because it may cause an accident. Approximate a month ago the car stoped in the middle of Stone Oak street in San Antonio Texas. I put the car in reverse and the car started working again. I took the car to the agency I was without a car for Several days because the agency doesn’t have a car available for rent. They could not find the problem of the computer glitch. Please the maintenance records for more details.

SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
While driving vehicle, randomly vehicle brakes are applied on their own, causing vehicle to suddenly slow down in traffic. Red warning light appears on the dash. This has occurred 6-7 times over the past 2 years. 3 of the times occurred on the interstate, causing vehicle to drop speed from 60-40 within few seconds. The other 3-4 times have occurred while driving underneath a light rail walk way and an underpass. Most recent incident was 12/25/21 on interstate. I am concerned this will contribute to a car crashing into the rear of my car. I had vehicle checked by my dealer today 1/7/22, and they were unable to duplicate the issue. They have submitted a report to Infiniti. I was unable to upload the documentation from Mike Ward Infiniti

POWER TRAIN
Day 1 noted car was having issues with irregular RPM's while cruising, and spiking of rpm's during acceleration. while on hwy w/ cruise control activated, "malfunction" warning lit on screen and forward propulsion ceased. had to move car to roadside, turn off engine and turn back on. took to dealership. they inspected vehicle and indicated there were no codes in system and with checks nothing to indicate any issues. they reset computer systems. drove home noting that the issue did not seem to be resolved. Day 2 same issues. Issues with reverse (seemed car strained to reverse). Wife noted that vehicle seemed to lose power on hill and struggled to get over 25 mph even with pedal to floor. Later in day car continued to have similar issues with strange fluctuation of rpm's even while idling, high revving of engine during acceleration that caused jerkiness, and when changed to manual transmission mode, high revving in 2nd gear with no accompanying acceleration. Day 3 similar issues. Arranged to take car to shop. Day 4 on way to shop, same issues. On a moderate hill, car appeared to go into limp-home mode. After stopping and restarting car, CVT Malfunction warning light came on. Note I've had this car 8 months and it has only 16,000 (about 10k since purchase).

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING
-DISPLAY SCREEN COMPLETELY BLACK, BUTTONS WOULD WORK, RADIO WOULD WORK, HEATED SEATS WOULD WORK, AC WOULD WORK BUT ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ON THE SCREEN. I DID NOT BRING THE VEHICLE IN BECAUSE I THOUGHT 'THAT WAS WEIRD' AND IT WOULD JUST GO AWAY. UPON STARTING THE CAR THE NEXT TIME, EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL. -SEVERE CONDENSATION INSIDE VEHICLE WINDOWS. CONDENSATION WAS SO SEVERE THAT WATER WAS ACTUALLY DRIPPING FROM MY WINDSHIELD ONTO THE DASHBOARD AND DRIPPING FROM THE SUNROOF ONTO MY SEAT. -DISPLAY SCREEN BLANK AGAIN EXACTLY THE SAME AS FEB INCIDENT, THIS TIME I DID BRING THE VEHICLE IN AND THE ENTIRE DISPLAY SCREENS WERE REPLACED. -A/C DID NOT WORK. WAS DRIVING GF TO AIRPORT AND SHE WAS GETTING HOT DUE TO RUSHING, THE A/C ONLY BLEW LIKE A FAN, IT DID NOT BLOW COLD AIR AT ALL. I TRIED ALL THE VARIATIONS OF BUTTONS TO TRY AND GET IT TO WORK. I EVEN TURNED OF THE CAR ON 3 DIFFERENT OCCASION AT STOPLIGHTS TO SEE IF THE VEHICLE WOULD 'RESET' ITSELF. IT DID NOT. WE DROVE ALL THE WAY TO THE AIRPORT (APPROX. 30 MILES) WITH NO AC. -CD PLAYER DID NOT WORK. THE CD FUNCTION DID NOT WORK, WOULD NOT EJECT CD OR ACCEPT CD. WAS TOLD THAT A 'RECONFIGURATION' FOR THE SOFTWARE MULTI-AV UNIT NEEDED TO BE PERFORMED. -FM PRESET STATIONS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. PRESET STATIONS GO FROM 1-6 AND THEN 7-12. MY STATIONS ONLY WENT TO CHANNEL 6 THEN WENT BACK TO 1. I COULD NEVER GET THE STATIONS TO GO TO 7-12. THEY WORKED BEFORE I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FOR THE CD PLAYER PROBLEM. THE CD PLAYER FUNCTION WAS FIXED BUT THEN THAT CAUSED THE FM PRESET FUNCTION NOT TO WORK PROPERLY. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS A SOFTWARE 'GLITCH' WITH THE HD STATIONS. I WAS TOLD THAT I CANNOT USE THE HD FUNCTION. -REAR SONAR SENSOR LIGHT DEFECTIVE. I CAME OUT TO START MY CAR AND THIS LIGHT WAS ON. WAS TOLD TO SEE IF THE SENSOR WAS 'SUNK IN.' WAS ADVISED IT MIGHT BE ELECTRICAL FAILED SENSOR.

FUEL SMELL COMING FROM THE VEHICLE WHEN PARKIED IN THE GARAGE. HAS BEEN CHECK OUT TWICE. 1 ST TIME INFINITI COULD NOT FIND ANY ISSUE, BUT TOLD ME THEY WERE LOOKING INTO IT UNDER ENGINEERING REVIEW. 2 MONTHS LATER AFTER LIVING WITH THE SMELL BROUGHT IT BACK THEY HAD A INFINITI ENGINEER LOOK AT IT. NOW THEY ARE TELLING ME THEY ACKNOWLEGDE THAT THERE IS A ISSUE WITH THE CRANK CASE VENTALATION SYSTEM. STILL NO FIX WAITING ON ENGINEERING REVIEW TO COME OUT WITH NEW BULLETIN COULD TAKE UP TO 3 MONTH. THE SMELL OF GAS IN MY GARAGE IS A HEALTH HAZARD TO HUMANS. THEY HAVE BEEN COMPLAINT OF THIS ISSUE DATING BACK TO 2019. IT NEEDS TO RECALLED.

CAR ABRUPTLY STALLS WHILE DRIVING. HAS OCCURRED 3 TIMES. DRAMATICALLY INCREASING A CHANCE OF COLLISION. NAVIGATION ALWAYS GETS ME LOST. NAVIGATION AND OTHER SCREEN GOES BLACK AND RESTARTS WHILE DRIVING. AUDIO/RADIO COMES ON WHILE DRIVING ON IT'S OWN WHEN I WANT MUSIC OFF. TOUCH SCREEN APPLICATIONS LIKE CHANGING RADIO STATION, SWITCHING SCREENS DO NOT ALWAYS WORK. AUTO DOOR UNLOCK WITH THE KEYS DO NOT ALWAYS WORK, HAVE TO WAIT MANY TIMES FOR THE FUNCTION TO WORK. MOST IMPORTANT IS THE ABRUPT STALLING THAT JERKS MY BODY FORWARD ITS TERRIFYING!
