This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that may have a repeat service 4 wheel drive message. Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Codes C0398, C038D or C0397. Technician will need to reprogram the Transfer case control module with latest software available through tis2web. If the vehicle has Regular Production Option Code (NQH) and has a Diagnostic Trouble Code C0398 setting after being Dinghy towed please see the latest version of PIP5217. If the vehicle has a Diagnostic Trouble Code C0398, inspect circuits 7477, 7478, 7479 for any terminal or connection issues between the B2227 Gear Position Sensor and the Transfer Case Control Module and repair as needed.

14126B - SERVICE UPDATE (REVISED PROGRAMMING INFORMATION). THIS BULLETIN PROVIDES A SERVICE PROCEDURE TO REPROGRAM THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER ON CERTAIN VEHICLES. THESE VEHICLES MAY HAVE AN ODOMETER READING AT PEEK IN (I.E. DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER (DIC) SCREEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN THE OFF POWER MODE BUT THE CLUSTER IS AWAKENED BY OPENING THE CAR DOOR OR USING THE KEY FOB) DOES NOT MATCH THE SEASON ODOMETER READING WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN THE RUN POWER MODE. THE TRIP A/B AND FUEL ECONOMY DISPLAYS MAY ALSO BE INCORRECT. THIS CONDITION OCCURS, WHEN THE VEHICLE SITS FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME AND, NORMAL PARASITIC CURRENT DRAWS DEPLETE THE BATTERY STATE OF CHARGE TO LESS THAN 12 VOLTS AND, THE VEHICLE IS IN THE OFF POWER MODE WHEN THE CLUSTER IS AWAKENED AS DESCRIBED ABOVE.
