Pulled up to a stop sign and attempt to make a right turn as I was in the turn the steering wheel locked up in the turn which almost caused and accident . I had to get the vehicle towed to Wyatt Johnson GMC dealership in Clarksville TN. I purchased this truck in Jan 2024 from Romain Cross Pointe Auto Park in Evansville ,Indiana at 7600 E Division St, Evansville, IN 47715 it had 13k miles. I'm the second owner I only put 2k miles since ownership. I was able to obtain a vehicle history report which shows this has been an on going problem among other issues DTC code U0131 Lost communication with Power steering Module shows at least 9 times that Romain GMC try to fix the problem. This is extremely dangerous to drive and the steering goes out this has been a known problem.. See attachments

I received a p0747 and p0700 transmission codes on my GMC sierra 3500. It would not engage above 3rd gear and I almost was rear ended by a Semi truck because I was unable to speed up. The vehicle CEL turned on and "Engine power reduced" notification appeared on my cluster. Engine RPMS were at 2800 rpm and my speed limit would not go past ~40mph. I currently have my vehicle being inspected by the local dealership. The vehicle currently has ~19,300 miles

I purchased a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali trading in the same 2022 version [XXX]. I would find the tailgate down after stopping. It became habit to make sure the tailgate was latched. Unfortunately, while pulling a trailer, the tailgate opened again while driving causing me to have to replace the top portion of the multipro tailgate. The new tailgate would be damaged a second time despite my efforts, but traded it in for the 2023 as it was. This continued but more often with the 2023. Two weeks ago I was pulling my trailer driving from San Diego to Las Vegas and we were flagged down by another car on [XXX], and we realized the tailgate had opened. We were thankful he did because had anything fallen out, we were super concerned it could cause havoc with the traffic that followed. We put a bungy cord on it. The next morning driving the trailer 4 blocks but knowing we would make a u-turn, and a sharp right turn, I opened the tonneau cover so I could clearly see the tailgate, I was pulling the trailer, and I had my eye in the rear view mirror. Lo and behold, the light turned green, I paid attention to traffic, and I made the uturn. I felt the tailgate being crushed. This time, it took out the entire tailgate, and caused moderate damage to what was also crushed on my trailer. The notion that these tailgates are not opening while driving is simply not true. I have experienced this not once, but twice. As if this cannot get worse, GM tells me my truck is not part of this recall. They so far have refused to give me the "fix" for it so I can fix on my own dime. And on top of that, my body shop told me the tailgate replacement is on back order for months with no idea when production for these will catch up. This one will cost $3300, my trailer $800, and the 2022 truck about $2800.00. Besides the obvious cost and aggravation, the bottom line is that it is a safety issue for other drivers. I am concerned. I walked from my garage to the back of my truck to the driver door a drove away. At my destination the tailgate was open and my chainsaw was sitting there. Absolutely no way I could walk past my tailgate and not see the Stihl chainsaw looking at me and drive off without closing it first. I’ve owned the truck 1 week at this point.

2023 GMC 1500 Sierra Denali Ultimate tailgate opens without being commanded. This has happened approximately six times with damage to the tailgate in the last incident on 2/8/2024. There were not any warning lights. Safety is affected by having an open tailgate and cargo potentially leaving the vehicle. I have seen a recall pending for the same issue however seems to be limited to 2500 / 3500 series vehicles.

Nighttime backing up is to dark to see in the camera. The reverse lights are not bright enough to highlight the area to see correctly. This is a major concern as i almost backed up over my child at night as i could not see them in the camera. Please address with manufacture to resolve the issue. This truck has one piece LED lights that can not be pulled and swapped out with a brighter bulb. would need to replace the entire fixture.

CRITICAL PART FAILURE - The master cylinder attached to the brake pad is leaking at the seal where the piston is depressed into the cylinder. It's leaking brake fluid onto the driver brake assembly and some sort of cable. While this is repairable under warranty, this should NEVER ever happen on a vehicle. Arguably, the main part on the most critical system on the car - the brakes. Please investigate whether GM should be responsible for replacing this part on any affected vehicle for the life of the vehicle Thank you for all you do to keep us safe! Have a great day

We drove our Truck from Hartwell Georgia to Coloma Wisconsin on [XXX]. En route we drove through heavy rain. We got to Coloma on [XXX]. The truck sat outside overnight in cold weather. Temps were in the low 20's to high teens. On [XXX] I went out to drive the truck to town on errands. After starting it the steering would not move. Had the truck towed to Wheelers Chevrolet of Coloma. Weather had warmed up and the steering was working. The dealer kept the truck and let it sit outside overnight. The next morning they started it and the steering would not move. The brought the truck into the heated garage and after a hour or so the steering worked. They decided to keep it inside and dry it out. It sat in a heated garage till noon on the [XXX] at which time I took the truck to my wife's brother house and put it in a heated garage till we left on the morning of the [XXX] to head back home. Temps all day were below zero. We pulled off the road after about two hours and the steering began to bind up. Rotating the wheel got it loosened up and we elected to continue. About 15 minutes later on [XXX] at highway speed the steering began to lock up. I managed to get it to the side of the road. . Again rotating the wheel side to side for about 5 minutes got it to free up. We continued and made it home. Clearly there is water somewhere in the steering. Pretty scary having locked steering at speed. No problems in warm weather. I will be going to my GMC dealer today. Richard Kay superstore in Anderson SC. My service techs name at Wheelers Chevy was David Borre. Phone number 715-600-3358 INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Tailgate opens by itself, a know issue by GM and Sierra drivers. Mine was damaged by opening and banging against my travel trailer. I have been talking with GM about this since September. Today a different department told me they require up to 30 days to investigate and if I pay for the repairs myself they will cancel the investigation. Objects flying out of my pickup bed could damage my vehicle, my camper and others on the road.

Traveling at 70 mph on cruise control, tapped breaks to turn off, multiple warning lights flashed, vehicle lost power, and breaks with multiple messages including “Break system failure, top speed 62 mph”. I lost all breaking control on the highway and nearly crashed into other vehicles due to inability to stop. Was able to pull over, turn off vehicle, and turn back on, when the breaks were working again but the vehicles acceleration was very slow. Currently at authorized repair shop. When dropped off, there were 8-9 active codes.
