Dealer is aware of the problem but is unable to repair, says it is inherent on those vehicles for the last couple of model years. (i can't safely hook up a trailer in low range 4X4)

I BOUGHT THIS 2024 GMC SIERRA NEW IN FEBRUARY OF 2024. I HAVE BEEN HAVING SEVERAL PROBLEMS. MAINLY THE BACK UP CAMERA WORKS INTERMITTENTLY. I HAVE HAD MY TRUCK INTO THE DEALER 5 TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE CONTACTED GMC TO INITIATE A BUY BACK. I HAVE HAD THE ENTIRE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM REPLACED AND AM STILL HAVING PROBLEMS. MY TRUCK GOES INTO THE DEALER, LUTHER BROOKDALE GMC, AGAIN 0CTOBER 17TH, 2024 FOR THE 6TH TIME. I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS PROBLEM FOR OVER EIGHT MONTHS I HAVE VIDEOS IF IT WOULD DO ANY GOOD.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS, BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING
10/9/24: All interior vehicle sounds (turn signals, hazard lights, parking warnings, collision warnings, etc.) along with the audio sound system, are audible in my vehicle via the vehicles’s audio system speakers. For reasons unknown and without warning, all interior vehicle sounds and the audio sound system cease to make audible sound; however, the infotainment display screen and the instrument cluster screen continue displaying normally and appear to function properly (system still accepts touch screen inputs and visibly displays volume knob input adjustments). So, in summary, a disconnect occurs between the infotainment system / vehicle audible warnings and the vehicle’s speakers, through which the sounds emitted. We purchased our 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 as a brand-new purchase on 9/30/24 and it is completely stock, with no post-purchase or aftermarket alterations having been made to the vehicle. This issue has occurred on two separate occasions since the purchase date, with the occurrences happening on 10/8/24, and once on 10/9/24. When this sound-disconnect issue occurs, it will last indefinitely until we remedy the issue. The only remedy for this issue that has worked thus far requires that we completely shut the vehicle down, wait a few minutes, and then restart the vehicle. In researching this issue, I have found multiple comments over various forums by various users who have reported dealing with this same issue.

The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra 3500. The contact stated while driving at various speeds and hauling a trailer, the message "Trailer Brake Disabled - Service Required" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the failure was related to TSB Number: 23-NA-113; however, the part to do the repair was not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,390.

Stereo volume went to max, startled me while driving through residential neighborhood. Then muted itself and wouldn’t work. Stereo reset itself and then played at normal volume but none of the controls worked until I restarted my truck. Bought it brand new last week

The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the automatic emergency braking system had malfunctioned and the vehicle did not stop when needed. The contact stated that while driving at a low rate of speed the collision avoidance system had activated, but the automatic emergency braking system did not activate, causing the vehicle to crash into the rear of a second vehicle. During the crash, no injuries were reported and no police report was taken. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 500.

STEERING, WHEELS
since new there is a violent vibration in the steering wheel and floor boards. steering wheel oscillates side to side at speed from 38mph to very bad at 65mph. Dealer has had it 5 times and still cant fix it. they state the front hub extensions are out of round and have tried 3 sets without any success. this truck is not safe to drive as it will put your hands to sleep due to the vibration. Also it will cause premature system component failure. the GM forum and Duramax forum is showing many cases nation wide with this symptom. Also there is NO provision with the current 18 inch wheel to index concentrically with the mating hubs on all four wheel locations This is mainly affection the Dually wheel Denali or high-country vehicles

SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The DIC randomly displays “check trailer wiring” then says “brakes connected” over and over. When this happens the brakes on the trailer quit working, all lights continue to work all the time. It hasn’t been back to the dealer yet but I will take it when I can. Other vehicles have no issues with this trailers brakes when towing. I have replaced the trailer pig tail 7 pin plug, cleaned all connections etc. The only thing that works so far is to disconnect one of 4 electric brakes then the DIC is silent and 3 brakes function. I even replaced some magnets in the trailer brakes but they were working prior to the DIC message that began on my second towing trip. There is a technical bulletin for some GMC trucks but my model isn’t listed as one. I believe it to be the controller or software since nothing seems to work as far as the trailer is concerned. It isn’t my trailers issue…I know they are going to say it is.

The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra 2500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the two outside cabs were smoking. There was smoke detected near the fuel tank. The contact stated that there was an abnormal odor of diesel and DEF detected. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. While driving, there was a lot of smoke detected from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 100.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
The backup camera is useless at night. When backing up at night the camera is so dark you cannot see more than a foot or two behind you. If someone or something is behind you you will never see them before it’s too late. The camera is supposed to be a safety feature! I talked to the dealer service department about this and they said it’s a design flaw with GMC and nothing they could do. I Also looked online and see several people complaining about the same thing. This truck has as of today 268 miles on it. I called GMC help center and just got the runaround telling me I would have to go back to the dealer for them to fix the problem even after telling them several times that the dealer said nothing they could do it’s a design flaw with GMC. I believe GMC should be made to do a recall and fix this safety problem.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, POWER TRAIN
First date was 04/23/2024 my truck went into limp mode with an alert reading engine and transmission control module problem. Brought it in and they reset the sensors. Shortly after the alert warning goes off again and I turn the engine off and start it back up. It cleared the alert, I brought it back in on 06/15/2024. They reset sensor and fixed a recall on tailgate. I picked up truck, drove it for 2 months and TCM warning came up and threw truck into limp mode while pulling a 2 horse trailer. It turned a 3 hr drive into a 6 hr drive. I brought back to dealer on 8/19/2024 they had it for 4 days and they notified me that this is an on going problem. It is a transmission solenoid valve stuck open and they ordered the part and told me it could be months before the part gets here due to the ongoing backorder from all the other trucks that have the same problem. I use this truck for work and leisure to pull my boat and 2 horse trailer and now I have a vehicle payment to make and no vehicle to use. I cannot use it to work or anything else because it is at the dealer for an unspecified amount of time. I have read online that this is a major problem with this truck and GMC as well as the dealerships know about this problem and they still sold it to me. There are so many complaints online about this GMC 2500 AT4 truck problem that GMC should stop selling this truck.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
At night, when put into reverse, the exterior reverse lights do not illuminate enough to safely use the rear view mirror or backup cameras to safely navigate in reverse. I have owned a new vehicle every other year for many years and I have never experienced this any any other vehicle. I am going to look at aftermarket lighting options to be used when in reverse. This is a very big miss and safety concern on any new vehicle now days, let alone on a $80,000 pickup truck.

To Whom It May Concern, This is a brand new 2024 GMC Sierra AT4 Diesel Truck with 4,000 miles. The first incident occurred when I was doing about 5 mph. The truck maintained its speed without my foot on the gas pedal and the cruise control was not on. Then when I tapped the gas pedal, everything return to normal. The second incident was about 2 weeks later in which the same thing happened. The third incident which was about one week later, I was doing about 5 mph and the truck accelerated on its own. I let the truck accelerate to approximately 28 mph. At that point I hit the brakes to stop the vechicle and pulled over. The truck was idling very high so I turned off the engine. All the ignition lighting remained on, but the truck would not restart. Even after removing the keys from the vehicle the ignition lighting remained on. At that point the truck had be towed back to the dealership which is Rainbow Buick, GMC in Covington, Louisiana. I've been told by the Rainbow Service Department that they do not know what's wrong with the truck. It's been sitting there for 10 days now was a dead battery. My salesman who I don't really believe, said he has the exact same truck and it happen to his tuck at 30,000 miles. I file a claim with GMC Customer Support but have yet to hear from them. I'm obviously very disappointed with my new truck, my salesperson, and service department. If there's anything you can do to help please let me know! I was stopped at a light while I was in drive. While I was waiting for the light to change the truck shut off suddenly with no warning. The dash message said to restart truck. I had to put it back in park then hit the push button to restart truck. It started right away. The truck had enough fuel and no reason to shut off on its own. The truck has less than 1,200 miles when this occurred. The truck had a shudder when it downshifted prior to this happening and then shut off about a minute later. Some shuddering seems to be the way the truck downshifts. This is dangerous if you have to just slow down and takeoff again and then it shuts off on it’s own. This can cause a crash.

VISIBILITY/WIPER, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING
Extremely poor rear camera quality at night. Common complaint on GMC and Chevy 2023/2024 models. Unsafe to reverse at night due to poor camera image quality. Cadillac has already issued a recall on their units which are identical to the GMC and Chevy. Many posts on Facebook gmc at4 and Chevy zr2 owners groups about the safety issue
