Summary2011-2022 F-Super Duty and 2016-2023 F-650/F-750 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may exhibit an elevated idle condition. During prolonged idle time, vehicles may experience this elevated idle to reduce unburned hydrocarbons from the SCR. The powertrain control module estimates hydrocarbon levels in the SCR and may increase idle speed to remove them. Idle speed will be increased to 1000 RPM for ambient temperatures near 26°C (80°F) and may increase to 1200 RPM at -40 °C (-40°F). Vehicles may exhibit exhaust smoke and diesel exhaust fluid smell during elevated idle condition. Exhaust smoke and smell condition will not affect reliability or durability of the engine. Power take-off (PTO) use and idle set point control will disable elevated speed. It is required that the operator monitor the vehicle and adhere to any Exhaust Filter warning messages.

SummarySome 2016 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may have diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P04E3 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) after reprogramming the PCM software for various reasons. Vehicles built on or after 11-Nov-2015 are not equipped with a crankcase ventilation sensor (CRNKCSVT). This DTC may be caused by incorrect PCM programming. To correct the condition, start a new vehicle session and run the PCM Programmable Module Installation (PMI). The IDS scan tool will ask to verify the style of the connector on the crankcase vent (CCV) hose. Answering this prompt incorrectly will cause DTC P04E3 to be stored in the PCM. A new Technical Support Video has been added to PTS at: http://site-307934.bcvp0rtal.com/detail/videos/303---engine/video/6294017439001/p04e3-after-pcm-reprogramming-on-14-16-my-6.7l-super-duties.

SummarySome 2016-2021 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with SYNC 3 may exhibit a condition where the navigation voice prompts are inoperative after a SYNC map update. This may be due to an incomplete installation of the SYNC map software. If possible, using the original USB that installed the update, reperform the update and verify the navigation voice prompts have returned. Multiple reboots are expected when this update is being performed. Verify the Installation Is Complete message displays in the touch screen. If the original USB is not available, go to website https://syncnavigation.com/ford/home or https://syncnavigation.com/lincoln/home to download the files once more for the affected vehicle. For further map update support, reference the FAQ section on these websites.

SummarySome 2015-2019 F-Super Duty and 2016-2019 F-650/F-750 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may exhibit an oil leak from the oil filter, crankcase vent oil separator, oil cooler, upper/lower oil pan. This may be due to a clogged crankcase vent oil separator and/or a sealing concern. Do not remove/replace the engine front cover for upper oil pan leaks. Do not check for warpage on the upper oil pan. When the upper oil pan is not bolted to the vehicle, it has a natural tendency to twist slightly due to the manufacturing process for the pan and will not result in an oil leak. The Workshop Manual (Section 303-00 > Diagnosis and Testing > Engine > Engine Oil Leaks) provides information on the usage of fluorescent oil dye to locate the source of an oil leak. Refer to GSB Oil Leaks Weeps And Seeps for more oil leak diagnosis. Continue to monitor OASIS for updates.

SummarySome 2016 F-Super Duty/F-650/F-750 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine built on or before 15-Feb-2016 may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P054F stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be caused by the torque converter one way clutch. To correct the condition, perform the torque converter stall speed test. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM) Section 307-01B > Special Testing Procedures > Stall Speed Test. For this specific condition, the line pressure test is not required prior to performing the stall speed test. If engine stall speed does not reach the minimum RPM range specified, replace the torque converter, torque convertor hub seal, and fluid filter. Perform the transmission fluid cooler backflushing and cleaning procedure and refill the fluid. Refer to WSM, Section 307-01B.

SummarySome 2016 F-Super Duty trucks equipped with a 6.7L engine may have diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P04E3 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) after reprogramming the PCM software for various reasons. Vehicles built on or after 11-Nov-2015 are not equipped with a crankcase ventilation sensor (CRNKCSVT). This DTC may be caused by incorrect PCM programming. To correct the condition, start a new vehicle session using a computer with IDS that has not been previously connected to the vehicle. On the vehicle specification screen, answer NO when asked if the vehicle is correct. Enter the PCM tear tag and perform PCM software reprogramming. The IDS scan tool will ask to verify the style of the connector on the crankcase vent (CCV) hose. Answering this prompt incorrectly will cause DTC P04E3 to be stored in the PCM.

Summary2011-2021 F-Super Duty and 2016-2021 F-650/F-750 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may exhibit a high/elevated idle condition. During prolonged idle time, vehicles may experience this high/elevated idle to reduce buildup of unburned hydrocarbons from the SCR system. The powertrain control module (PCM) estimates hydrocarbon levels in the SCR and may increase idle speed to remove them. Idle speed will be increased to 1000 revolutions per minute (rpms) for ambient temperatures near 26C (80F) and may increase to as high as 1200 rpms at -40 C (-40F). These elevated idle periods can last from 20-40 minutes, depending on ambient temperatures. During power take off (PTO) use and already using idle set point control, the elevated speed is disabled. It is required that the operator monitor the vehicle and adhere to the Exhaust Filter warning messages.
