On some 2011-2015 model year Chevrolet Caprice and 2012-2015 model year Chevrolet Impala police patrol vehicles, idling the engine for extended periods of time can prematurely wear the engine-cooling-fan motor. In this condition, the motor may fail to operate or operate noisily. This condition can also damage motor-control relays in the vehicle?s underhood bussed electrical center (UBEC).   This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vibration complaints that are one of the most challenging complaints to accurately diagnose and repair. Technician will need to use Pico Oscilloscope Diagnostic Kit to effectively diagnosis vehicles. Technician should drive the vehicle will using the Pico Oscilloscope to record data. After the data is recorded it should be reviewed to determine the root cause of the concern. If a repair attempt made the concern better but not eliminated or had no affect at all, and are requesting assistance from General Motors Technical Assistance Center record another Pico file and save it to the computer. After the new Pico Oscilloscope data has been saved email the data to General Motors Technical Assistance Center in the subject line include ?Vibration? ?Business Associate Code? and the last 8 of the Vehicle Identification Number.

  This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician of a complaint of a sag or hesitation when accelerating. The concern is present when coasting at low speeds of less than 15 miles per hour and then aggressively applying the throttle, or after making a hard stop followed by an aggressive throttle. This is considered normal operation of the vehicle the throttle is delayed and opened slowly up to .7 seconds to help minimize driveline lash and clunking or will have approximately .5 seconds of zero torque to allow the transmission to shift to first gear.

  15466 - Customer Satisfaction Program. Certain 2014-2015 Chevrolet Caprice Police Pursuit Vehicles (PPV) equipped with a 3.6L V-6 (LFX) and 6-Spd Automatic Transmission (MYA) may have a condition in which the transmission oil cooler line may fracture at the connection to the transmission housing. If a fracture occurs, automatic transmission fluid may leak from the fitting. If the leak continues for some time, there may be a noticeable degradation in automatic transmission performance, and an eventual loss of the ability to engage any gear, resulting from low transmission fluid level. Dealers are to replace the automatic transmission fluid cooler line.
