Summary"N63R - VALVETRONIC ACTUATOR POSITION FAULTS CAUSED BY POOR HARNESS CONNECTION. The Service Engine Soon (MIL) Lamp is on and a ""Drivetrain Malfunction"" Check Control warning may be displayed. A connector on the engine wiring harness is not correctly locked or there is a problem with the pin contacts resulting in sporadic connection error. Any of the following Valvetronic faults may be stored: 136608 - Valvetronic servomotor 2, position sensors, signal: Not plausible 136408 - Valvetronic servomotor 2, position sensors, signal: Short circuit or open circuit 135808 - Valvetronic servomotor 1, position sensors, signal: Not plausible 135A08 - Valvetronic servomotor 1, position sensors, signal: Short circuit or open circuit These additional faults for bank 2 may also be stored: 135B10 Valvetronic servomotor 2, triggering phase U: Line break 135B11 Valvetronic servomotor 2, triggering Phase V: line break 135B12 Valvetronic servomotor 2, triggering Phase W: line break Any of the following consequential faults would be set as a result of the Valvetronic problem: 102902 air mass 2, plausibility: air mass too low 120408 boost pressure control: shutdown due to reaction 120908 boost control 2: shutdown due to reaction 107001 throttle angle 2 - absolute pressure suction pipe 2, comparison: pressure too high Additional misfire faults are also possible: 140001 - Misfires, several cylinders: injection is switched off 140501 - Misfire, cylinder 5: injection is switched off 140601 - Misfire, cylinder 6: injection is switched off 140701 - Misfire, cylinder 7: injection is switched off 140801 - Misfire, cylinder 8: injection is switched off"

The vehicle's rear view mirror integrated universal remote control is incompatible with some garage door (or fence) opener devices installed at the driver's residence and/or business. If the garage door opener was manufactured before 1993, it will not be compatible with any HomeLink device. Installing the compatibility bridge will NOT link these units. This is due to several incompatible frequency's used before 1993.

SummaryCID Split Screen Always Changes Back to Compass Display. After starting the vehicle, the Control Display (CID) right side (split screen) display does not stay on the last selection made by the driver. Within 30 seconds of starting the right side of the display changes by itself to the compass view. Software error (Head Unit NBT-EVO ID5) was introduced with ISTA/P V3.58.0 (S15A-16-03-502 I Level).

It involves the replacement of the 12-volt battery as a preventive maintenance measure. This 12-volt battery replacement measure is: Effective for repairs dated on or after January 1, 2015. Applicable to vehicles that are still covered by the BMW Maintenance Program. This program is valid for 4 years or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first. The calculation is based on the current date of repair. It is ""applicable"" when the 12volt battery was not replaced within the last 12 months. You can then perform the battery replacement as outlined below. Before loosening or tightening the engine upper oil pan refer to the newly released Repair Instruction 11 13 010 ""Removing and installing/replacing upper oil sump"" in ISTA/D 3.55.11 or higher for the proper procedures. IMPORTANT: The new repair instructions will state one of the following before reinstalling the upper engine oil pan. ""All threads must be cleaned with screw tap"" Or ""Clean all threads with screw tap. Order number 81 43 0 402 559"" Or ""Clean all threads with a thread cutter"". The current repair instruction terminology will be modified to include this information."
