Owners of certain 2024 Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles may experience a range of issues with their Uconnect 5 radio systems. These problems, which can include navigation malfunctions, inoperative features, and display errors, are addressed by a software update detailed in Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 08-033-25, issued on February 13, 2025.

This bulletin specifically applies to vehicles built on or before September 25, 2024 (MDH 0924XX) that are equipped with the Uconnect 5 Nav W 12.3" Display radio, identified by Sales Codes UBX, UFX, UBP, or UFP. The recommended fix involves updating the radio's software to version U33.43, which may require one or two USB updates depending on the radio's current software level. Important Warnings for Owners

Several critical advisories are provided within TSB 08-033-25 regarding the software update process:

• During the update, the message "Do not remove USB Device. System will reboot and start update. Backup Camera, Radio, SOS, and several driving assistance features will be unavailable during the update." will be displayed. It is crucial to follow this instruction.
• The vehicle should not be driven during the update and must remain in PARK or with the parking brake engaged.
• The engine should be running for the entire duration of the radio flashing process.
• If a message stating "Switch-Invalid_Binary" appears after a successful radio update, ignore this error and click 'OK'.
• If a message stating "Update Failed, an error occured during the update procedure" appears, verify that the software level has indeed been updated before taking further action.

Diagnosis

To diagnose these issues, technicians will use a wiTECH scan tool along with the diagnostic procedures available in DealerCONNECT/Service Library. They will verify that all related systems are functioning correctly. If Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) or other symptom conditions are present beyond those listed in the TSB, these must be recorded and addressed before proceeding with the radio software update. If a customer describes any of the symptoms listed above, the repair procedure should be performed.

Repair Procedure Summary

The repair involves updating the radio software to version U33.43. The process begins by checking the radio's current software version. Depending on whether the radio is at or above U29.44 but below U33.43, or at or below U29.42, a one-step or two-step update procedure will be followed.

For a two-step update, the U29.44 software must be downloaded and flashed first, followed by the U33.43 software. Software files are downloaded from the Uconnect website via DealerCONNECT. It's important to select the "MAC" version during download, regardless of the computer's operating system.

Once the software is downloaded, it is transferred to appropriately formatted USB flash drives. The drives are then inserted into the vehicle's USB port with the engine running. The system will prompt the user to update, and the process will take approximately 30 minutes to one hour to complete, with the system rebooting and displaying progress. After the update, a factory reset may be performed, and any set DTCs will be cleared.

Required Tools or Parts

• wiTECH or Equivalent: A diagnostic scan tool for checking system functionality and clearing DTCs.
• USB Flash Drives:
  • A 20GB USB flash drive, formatted as NTFS, is required for the U29.44 software update.
  • A 4GB USB flash drive, formatted as FAT32, is required for the U33.43 software update.
  • Using a quality, name-brand flash drive (e.g., Kingston®) is recommended over generic alternatives.
