2021-2025 Jeep Wrangler/Gladiator B-Pillar Water Leak TSB

Jeep has released Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 23-060-24 to address a common issue of water leaks from the B-pillar in certain 2021-2025 Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator models. This bulletin, dated December 18, 2024, provides a detailed procedure for diagnosing and repairing this specific Jeep Wrangler B-pillar water leak.

The TSB applies to vehicles built on or after January 1, 2021 (MDH 0101XX) that are equipped with either a Black 3-Piece Hard Top (Sales Code HT1) or a Body Color 3-Piece Hard Top (Sales Code HT3). The primary cause identified is the absence of foam pads, which leads to water intrusion.

Symptoms of the B-Pillar Water Leak

Owners of affected Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles may observe one or more of the following symptoms:

• "The vehicle will leak water from the top of the B-pillar when the vehicle is parked on a downward incline."
• "Water on door trim or carpet."
• "Water drips down the inside door and panel."

These leaks are typically noticeable when the vehicle is parked on a downward slope, indicating a specific condition under which the water intrusion occurs.

Cause of the Leak

The root cause of this Jeep Wrangler B-pillar water leak has been identified as "Foam pads not applied" during manufacturing. These missing foam pads allow water to bypass seals and enter the cabin.

Diagnosis and Repair Procedure Summary

To diagnose and fix the B-pillar water leak, technicians will first perform a water leak test. This involves raising the rear of the vehicle by approximately 30.4 cm (12 inches) to simulate a downward incline, as shown in Figure 2 of the TSB. The entire roof area is then soaked with water to check for leaks at the B-pillars.

If a leak is confirmed at the B-pillar, the repair involves installing foam pads. The Freedom Panels must first be carefully removed and placed on a padded work surface to prevent damage. After ensuring the Freedom Panels are dry, new foam pads (part numbers 68443146AA for the right side and 68443147AA for the left side) are installed at the rear outer corner of both panels, as illustrated in Figure 3. The pads are firmly pressed to ensure proper adhesion. Finally, the Freedom Panels are reinstalled, and the cabin is verified to be dry before returning the vehicle to the customer.

To address the Jeep Wrangler B-pillar water leak, the following parts may be required:

• 68443146AA: Foam, B Pillar Rear, Right (Quantity: 1, as required)
• 68443147AA: Foam, B Pillar Rear, Left (Quantity: 1, as required)

Important Warnings

Technicians are advised to exercise caution during the repair process. "CAUTION! Freedom Panels must be placed on a padded work area. Failure to do so may damage the panels." This ensures that the panels are not scratched or otherwise damaged during removal and installation.
