• Software Level Caution: "Do not attempt to update a radio with a lower software level than R41.00.56 straight to R47.03.26." Radios with software between R34.00.49 and R41.00.56 require a two-step update process, first to R41.00.56, then to R47.03.26.

Repair Procedure Summary

1. Verify Current Software Version: Access the radio's System Information menu to check the current "Build Number" (e.g., 00.41.00.56.00).
2. Determine Update Path: If the radio software is R41.00.56 or higher, one USB flash drive with R47.03.26 software is needed. If the software is between R34.00.49 and R41.00.56, two USB flash drives are required for a two-step update (first to R41.00.56, then to R47.03.26).
3. Prepare USB Flash Drive: Format a 4GB USB flash drive to "FAT32" with "Default allocation size" and "Quick Format." Download the appropriate software files from DealerCONNECT and extract them to the root folder of the USB drive.
4. Vehicle Preparation: Ensure the vehicle has at least 1/8 tank of fuel, the engine is running, and a battery charger is connected to maintain voltage between 13.2 and 13.5 volts. All other accessories should be off.
5. Perform Software Update: Insert the prepared USB flash drive into the vehicle's USB port. The radio will prompt, "New software and feature are ready for you Uconnect system." Select "Update Now" and then "Continue" to begin the update. The process takes approximately 15-20 minutes, during which the backup camera, radio, SOS, and other driving assistance features will be temporarily unavailable. Do not remove the USB drive during this time.
6. Completion: Once the update is successful, the radio will display "Your Uconnect System has been updated with the Latest Software." Remove the USB drive, cycle the ignition off for two minutes, and clear any set DTCs.
