Cause

The root cause identified for the coolant leak is a leaking thermostatic valve gasket.

Diagnosis

To diagnose the issue, technicians should first verify the vehicle's VIN against the Rapid Service Update (RSU) VIN list. If a coolant leak from the thermostatic valve is confirmed, the following diagnostic steps are performed:

1. If equipped, remove the under engine protection cover. Refer to detailed service procedures in DealerCONNECT/Service Library under "Service Info > 7055B54 - Under Engine Protection - Removal/Replacement."
2. Start the vehicle and allow the coolant temperature to reach 90 °C (194 °F).
3. Inspect the thermostatic valve and its surrounding area for evidence of leaking coolant, as shown in Figure 1 (Inspection Area) and Figure 2 (Coolant Leak).
4. If a coolant leak is found, proceed to the repair procedure. If no leak is detected, use Inspection Labor Operation (LOP) 07-40-10-91 to close the active RSU.

Repair Procedure Summary

Superseded Bulletin and Rapid Service Update

This TSB 07-002-25 REV. B supersedes Technical Service Bulletin 07-002-25 REV. A, which was issued on May 02, 2025. All revisions are highlighted with asterisks and include new sales codes and an updated repair procedure note. This bulletin has also been released as a Rapid Service Update (RSU) 25-063, dated April 15, 2025. Applicable RSU VINs are loaded, and technicians can verify applicability using VIP or DealerCONNECT/Service Library.
