Honda's Investigation into CR-V Windshield Washer Issues

American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (AHM) has initiated a data collection effort for certain 2023-2024 Honda CR-V vehicles. This initiative, identified as a "Request for Parts: 2023-2024 CR-V Windshield Washer Motor Inop (ACTION REQUIRED)", aims to better understand the root cause of customer complaints regarding the windshield washer system being inoperative or leaking. To facilitate this investigation, AHM is requesting that no repairs be attempted on qualifying vehicles until specific parts can be collected.

Identifying Affected Vehicles and Symptoms

AHM is specifically interested in 2023-2024 Honda CR-V vehicles that meet several key requirements. If your Honda CR-V windshield washer inop or leaking issue aligns with these conditions, it may qualify for Honda's investigation:

• The windshield washer system must be either leaking or inoperative. A short video demonstrating the concern is required.
• The issue must be definitively traced to the washer motor, specifically part number P/N 76806-TLA-C01.
• The vehicle must not have any aftermarket parts installed on the windshield washer system.
• There should have been no previous repair attempts made on the washer system.
• The vehicle must not have been involved in a collision.

What Owners Should Do

If your 2023-2024 Honda CR-V is experiencing a "windshield washer system inop" condition or a leak and meets all the qualifying criteria, you should contact your authorized Honda dealership. The dealership's Technical Information & Support (TIS) team will need to record your vehicle's information and provide further instructions. It is crucial that the dealership contacts TIS before attempting any repair.

Dealerships are instructed to contact TIS via e-mail at [email protected] or by phone at 800-880-1072, available Monday-Friday, 7am-5pm PST. When communicating, the email title should include:

• Model Year (e.g., 2024)
• Model Name (e.g., CR-V)
• Issue (e.g., Brake Judder)
• VIN

The body of the email should contain:

• Dealer Number
• Your Name
• Best Phone Number to be Reached
• Current Mileage
• Confirmation that your vehicle meets all five qualifiers listed above
• A short video demonstrating the concern
• The DPTS #

Important Note for Dealerships

As a gesture of appreciation, Honda is offering a VISA gift card to dealer technicians who successfully identify and report a vehicle that meets the qualifiers and is accepted for parts collection. TIS will provide additional information to the referring technician if this situation applies. This message is directed solely to Honda dealership personnel and should be handled accordingly, including providing copies to the Shop Foreman and all Service Advisors.
