Important Notice for Dealers and Owners

American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (AHM) has issued a "PRIORITY/ACTION REQUIRED" message to its dealerships regarding certain 2022 Honda Civic vehicles. This communication indicates that AHM is actively investigating customer complaints of the A/C not blowing cold air or technicians observing an oil stain on the condenser. It is crucial that dealerships do not attempt any repairs on these vehicles until AHM has had the opportunity to inspect them.

This initiative aims to gather more information to understand the underlying cause of the Honda Civic A/C condenser leak before standard repair procedures are implemented. Owners should be aware that if their vehicle meets specific criteria, it may be subject to this pre-repair inspection request.

Symptoms of the Issue

Owners of affected 2022 Honda Civic vehicles may notice their A/C system is "A/C not blowing cold air". Technicians, during inspection, might also observe an "oil stain on the condenser", indicating a potential leak within the air conditioning system. These are the primary indicators that Honda is currently investigating.

Is Your Vehicle Eligible for Inspection?

AHM is interested in inspecting 2022 Honda Civic vehicles that meet specific criteria. For a vehicle to qualify for this special inspection related to the Honda Civic A/C condenser leak, it must satisfy all the following conditions:

• There must be a confirmed "oil stain on the condenser".
• The A/C compressor must be confirmed as "not seized".
• The A/C condenser must not have been previously replaced.
• There must be no impact damage to the A/C condenser resulting from a vehicle accident or other hazard.

What to Do if Your Vehicle Qualifies

If your 2022 Honda Civic exhibits the symptoms of an A/C not blowing cold air and meets the qualification criteria, your Honda dealership should contact Technical Information & Support (TIS) at [email protected]. TIS will then provide further instructions and arrange to record specific vehicle information.

Dealers are required to include the following details in their email to TIS:

• Model Year (e.g., 2020)
• Model Name (e.g., Accord)
• Issue (e.g., Brake Judder)
• Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)

Additionally, the email body should contain the Dealer Number, the technician's name, the best phone number to be reached, the current mileage, and the DPTS#.

Technician Incentive

As a gesture of appreciation for their efforts, technicians who identify and report a qualifying vehicle that is subsequently accepted for a Dealer Visit, Parts Collection, or Information Collection will receive a Visa gift card from AHM. This incentive encourages thorough inspection and accurate reporting of potential Honda Civic A/C condenser leak issues.
