2025 BMW X3 HVAC Flap Linkage Not Fully Connected TSB
BMW has released Service Information Bulletin SIB 64 05 25 to address issues in the 2025 BMW X3 where the HVAC flap linkage may not be fully connected or the vent temperature sensor wiring is incorrect, leading to inconsistent air output.

BMW has issued Service Information Bulletin (SIB) SIB 64 05 25 for the 2025 BMW X3 Sports Activity Vehicle (G45 E-Series) to address issues related to inconsistent air temperature output from the vehicle's heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system. This bulletin, which is Revision 4 and replaces SI B64 05 25 dated May 2025, provides detailed diagnostic and repair procedures for technicians. This repair is both mobile-friendly and remote software upgrade (RSU) friendly.
Symptoms of HVAC Flap Linkage Issues
Owners of affected 2025 BMW X3 vehicles may experience the following symptoms:
- "Customer states that the output air from one of the vehicle vent assemblies doesn't match the desired temperature, will change temperature opposite of climate settings."
- "Customer states that the output air from one of the vehicle vent assemblies doesn't match the desired temperature, nor change from Hot/Cold."
These issues indicate a problem with the precise control of airflow and temperature within the HVAC system, directly impacting passenger comfort. Addressing the 2025 BMW X3 HVAC flap linkage is crucial for proper climate control.
Identified Causes
BMW has identified two primary causes for the 2025 BMW X3 HVAC flap linkage issues:
- Incorrect Wiring: The wiring harness for the center vent temperature sensor may be incorrectly pinned.
- Loose Flap Linkage: The air flap linkage might not be fully locked into the air mixing flap, allowing it to come loose.
Repair Procedure Summary
To correct the 2025 BMW X3 HVAC flap linkage and wiring issues, technicians are instructed to perform the following checks and adjustments as outlined in SIB 64 05 25:
1. Wiring Inspection and Correction
Technicians must check the wiring connections between the Body Domain Controller (BCP) and the center driver and passenger vent temperature sensors. Specific connections to inspect include:
- Module A528 BCP A5287B pin 12 to B151 Vent Temp Sensor Left Front pin 3 B1511B
- Module A528 BCP A5287B pin 10 to B151 Vent Temp Sensor Left Front pin 1 B1511B
- Module A528 BCP A5287B pin 10 to B152 Vent Temp Sensor Right Front pin 1 B1511B
- Module A528 BCP A5287B pin 13 to B152 Vent Temp Sensor Right Front pin 3 B1511B
It is possible that the wiring could be swapped at connector x1559*1B, which is in line between the BCP and the vent temperature sensors. Technicians should refer to wiring diagram SSP-SP0000074179 for detailed information and correct pinning.
2. Air Flap Linkage Inspection and Correction
The linkage connection to the HVAC flap must be checked to ensure it has not come loose. This issue can affect any of the flaps within the HVAC system. A white plastic mechanism connects the black linkage arms and the HVAC flap assembly.
To test if the mechanism is fully seated into the HVAC flap assembly, technicians should perform a wiggle test of the white plastic (in/out). The goal is to ensure the white plastic mechanism push pin mushroom-shaped end engages into the flap ramp and is fully seated. Technicians must push in until they can feel the engagement.
If the flap and linkage are out of time, they may only snap in one way. Technicians can move the flap or use the BCP_SP21 test plan to align the linkage. The relevant test plans are found under Heating and air conditioning functions:
- Move flap motors to installation position: ABL-DIT-AS6450_SP21_KLAP_MOTOR_MONTAGEPO (sets the middle of travel flap setting).
- Flap motors, calibration run: ABL-DIT-AS6450_SP21_KLAP_MOTOR_EICHLAUF.
