This service action is considered mobile-friendly, meaning the repair can potentially be performed outside of a dealership service bay. However, it is not compatible with Remote Software Upgrade (RSU) procedures.

Symptoms

Owners of affected 2025 BMW X3 vehicles may notice a "slow loss of inflation pressure" in the rear tires. This condition occurs when the inner liner of the tire detaches. The vehicle's "tire pressure monitoring system" is designed to detect and display this loss of pressure, alerting the driver to the issue.

Cause

The root cause of the inner liner detachment and subsequent "slow loss of inflation pressure" has been identified as insufficient production tolerances. This led to the inner lining of the tires not being correctly configured during manufacturing.

Repair Procedure Summary

To resolve the 2025 BMW X3 tire detachment issue, technicians are instructed to replace the rear axle tires. The procedure involves two main steps:

1. Tire Inspection: New replacement tires must be checked to ensure their production date (DOT) is greater than or equal to 3124.
2. Tire Replacement: The rear axle tires are to be replaced following BMW's repair procedure REP 36 12 001. This process includes balancing the wheels and programming the new tire data into the vehicle's systems. It is important to note that checking the vehicle's wheel alignment is not necessary as part of this specific repair.

Required Parts

For this service action, specific part numbers are required for the replacement tires. Dealers will invoice the tire part number installed on the vehicle based on availability. Options include:

• Continental EcoContact 6 Q (285/40R20 108Y): Part Number 36 12 5 B49 0D1. Two tires are required.
• ECOCONTACT 6Q STR XL BW (285/40R20 108Y): Part Number 36 11 5 B71 358, for tires sourced through the BMW Tire Center Sublet program. Two tires are required.

Balance weights (10g to 60g) are also required and should be sourced as needed by referring to ETK or AIR systems.

Important Warnings

BMW emphasizes that this procedure must be performed on all affected vehicles before customer delivery. If a customer has already taken delivery, the procedure should be completed the next time the vehicle is in the shop, provided the campaign has a remedy available status. Dealers are also advised to check their inventory for affected vehicles as soon as possible.
