2023-2025 Audi Q7/SQ7 Door Noise TSB 2074129/2

Owners of 2023-2025 Audi Q7 and SQ7 models may experience a distinctive Audi Q7 door noise described as a creaking or groaning sound when opening or closing any of the vehicle's four doors. This issue is addressed by Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 2074129/2, which supersedes TSB 57 24 44 dated June 5, 2024. The bulletin was revised on June 21, 2024, to update the header, add the 2025 model year, and correct VIN breaks.

Symptoms

The primary symptom of this issue is a "creaking or groaning type noise" heard when a door is opened or closed. This Audi Q7 door noise can typically be easily replicated during the door's travel.

Technical Background

Audi has determined that the creaking or groaning noises stem from a manufacturing inconsistency in the production of the door arresters. These noises occur as the arrester bar moves into and out of its guide mechanism.

Important Warnings

When replacing door arresters, it is crucial to ensure that the correct, improved parts are installed. Technicians must check the production date and part version of any replacement door arrester before installation, especially while older version parts are still in stock. The improved door arrester will have a production date greater than or equal to week 17 of 2024 (e.g., "24/17") and a part version greater than or equal to "03S".

As shown in Figure 1 of the TSB, the production date (YY/WW) and part version number are stamped onto the arrester. For example, a part with "24/17" indicates week 17 of 2024, and "03S" is the part version. Figure 2 illustrates an improved door arrester with a production date of "24/18" and version "03S", meeting the criteria for an updated part.

Diagnosis and Trigger Conditions

To accurately diagnose the Audi Q7 door noise, technicians are instructed to take a short video of the door(s) making the noise as they are opened and closed. Additionally, photos of the door arrester, specifically showing its date stamp and VIN reference, must be taken. These images and videos should be in focus, well-lit, and uploaded to the DOC-IT system with the repair order.

• One rear door arrester: This involves labor operation 5859 1999 for arrester removal and reinstall (20 TU), along with rear door trim removal and reinstall (7073 1900).
• Two rear door arresters: This requires labor operation 5859 2099 for arrester removal and reinstall (30 TU), plus two rear door trims removal and reinstall (7073 2000).
• One front and one rear door arrester: This combines the individual operations for one front and one rear arrester, totaling 20 TU for each arrester removal/reinstall.
• Two front and one rear door arrester: This combines the operations for two front and one rear arrester, totaling 30 TU for the front arresters and 20 TU for the rear arrester.
• One front and two rear door arresters: This combines the operations for one front and two rear arresters, totaling 20 TU for the front arrester and 30 TU for the rear arresters.
• All four door arresters: This comprehensive repair involves labor operation 5759 2099 for two front door arresters (30 TU) and 5859 2099 for two rear door arresters (30 TU), along with associated trim removal and reinstall operations (7059 2000 and 7073 2099).

Diagnostic time (GFF) and road tests (before and after service) are listed with no allowance (0 TU).
