Symptoms

Audi advises technicians to not add tape or any other material to the locking plate. Doing so could negatively affect the function of the seat latch, potentially leading to serious personal injury or death. This is a critical safety instruction to ensure the proper operation of the seat mechanism.

Repair Procedure Summary

To resolve the Audi Q7 second row seat noise, Technical Service Bulletin 2060719/1 outlines a procedure to adjust the outer locking plate in the floorboard of the affected seat. This adjustment aims to eliminate the relative movement causing the noise.

The repair process involves several key steps. First, the affected second row seat must be folded and tilted forward to provide access to the outer locking plate. Next, the trim surrounding the outer locking plate on the door side needs to be carefully removed, following the repair manuals in Elsa.

Once the trim is removed, both bolts securing the locking plate are loosened. The locking plate is then moved evenly towards the rear of the vehicle by approximately 1.2 mm (about 3/64 inches). It is recommended to mark the original location of the locking plate before loosening the bolts to aid in precise adjustment. After the adjustment, the locking plate bolts are tightened according to repair manual specifications, and the trim is reinstalled.

Finally, the affected seat should be latched and unlatched several times to confirm that it properly latches in both the inner and outer locking plates. The seat should also be adjusted forward and backward multiple times to verify that both the inner and outer seat rails latch simultaneously, ensuring full functionality and safety.
