Audi has announced an extension to its EV Charging Customer Support Offer, identified by Program ID A23UCCSO. This program aims to provide support to owners of certain 2021-2024 Audi electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles impacted by Safety Recalls 93U6 and 93U8, which concern the 220V/240V compact/portable charging cable.

The offer, originally announced on December 15, has been extended until January 31, 2024. It provides eligible customers with options to address charging needs related to these recalls.

Why This Matters for Your Audi EV Charging Cable

Safety Recalls 93U6 and 93U8 address concerns with the 220V/240V compact/portable charging cable supplied with certain Audi EV and PHEV models. These recalls are critical for ensuring safe and reliable charging of your vehicle.

Recall 93U8 specifically applies to vehicles in dealer inventory, requiring the removal and destruction of the affected 220V/240V charging cable before sale. Recall 93U6 affects vehicles already sold to customers, where the repair remedy is not yet available.

Important Warnings for Owners

Owners of vehicles affected by Safety Recall 93U6 should be aware of a critical safety instruction: "Do not use the 220V/240V compact/portable charging cable at the 100% charge setting until the recall remedy has been completed." You may continue to use this cable only if the charger is set to the 50% charge setting. Always refer to your owner's manual for full information on the Compact Charging System and charging procedures.

Additionally, the EV Charging Customer Support Offer (Program ID A23UCCSO) is "not applicable to Certified Pre-Owned or used vehicles at this time." Only new EV vehicles sold through January 31, 2024, without the 220V/240V cable are eligible.

The EV Charging Customer Support Offer (Program ID A23UCCSO)

This support offer is available to customers who purchased an eligible EV/PHEV vehicle without the 240V adapter cable between December 15, 2023, and January 31, 2024. Eligible carlines include the Q4 e-tron, Q8 e-tron, e-tron GT, and Q5 PHEV models.

Customers can choose one of two options:

  • Electrify America HomeStation™ Level 2 EV Charger: This is a Level 2 home charging unit. Installation is not included, and customers should consult the Electrify America website for details and specifications.
  • $500 Visa Gift Card: A monetary alternative to the home charger.

Recall 93U8: Compact/Portable Charging System Cable (220V/240V)

This recall primarily affects new vehicles in dealer inventory. The repair procedure for Recall 93U8 involves removing and destroying the 220V/240V compact/portable charging cable from the Compact/Portable Charging System prior to vehicle delivery to the customer. This ensures that new vehicles are not delivered with the affected component.

Recall 93U6: Compact/Portable Charging System Cable (220V/240V)

Recall 93U6 applies to EV/PHEV vehicles previously sold with a 220V/240V adapter cable. At this time, the final repair remedy for this recall is not yet available, but it is expected by mid-2024. Audi plans to send an interim customer letter in early January 2024, with a follow-up letter once the permanent remedy is ready.

While awaiting the permanent repair, owners are advised to use the 220V/240V charging cable only at the 50% charge setting. The 110V charging option, which uses the compact/portable charging unit and 110V home charging cable, is not affected by this recall and can be used without restriction.

How to Get the Support Offer

If you are an eligible customer for the EV Charging Customer Support Offer (A23UCCSO), your Audi Brand Specialist will inform you that the 240V adapter cable is not available with your vehicle purchase. They will discuss charging options and help you select between the Electrify America HomeStation charger or the $500 Visa Gift Card.

For the charger option, an online claim form will be completed, and you will receive an email with a promo code to place your order through Electrify America. For the gift card option, the Audi Customer Experience Center will contact you to verify details and mail the card.
