I was approaching a red light on a road that is 35mph. As I was coming to a stop my passenger side window shattered out of nowhere. There were no people around outside the vehicle and as I mentioned I was going so slow, I can't imagine any rock kicked up would have done this. There was glass everywhere in my car. Fortunately no one was in the passenger seat. There was a small amount of glass on my lap as the driver, but I was unharmed. I brought the car to the dealer. They did an inspection and cannot explain it other than saying maybe a rock hit it. They pointed out a very small dent in the door of the car, but that had been there previously. The rupture point was also closer to the top of the window (the windows were closed at the time of the incident), not where they workman pointed to. I asked the dealer to inspect the driver window when they replaced the shattered window. There were no warning lights to indicate this might happen. The car has been repaired so I can use it, but I have lots of pictures of what happened and the inspection video from the dealer.

I purchased a 2026 Mini Cooper S Convertible in October of 2025. In the following 8 months I replaced 4 tires. Two due to blow-outs from potholes, a third went flat the morning after hitting a bump leaving a parking space due. The 4 incident was related to a bubble which formed on the sidewall of the tire. As the vehicle has no spar tire, three of the indicants required being towed to the dealership or the tire store. After nine months I replaced the vehicle. This vehicle is nether safe nor dependable.

While lowering the convertible top on my Mini Cooper Convertible, the trunk partition was not fully in place. Normally, the vehicle will prevent the roof from operating or provide a notification if the partition is not correctly positioned. In this case, the safety interlock system failed to warn me or stop the roof from lowering. While the roof was folding, the rear glass shattered, causing $6,000 in damage. The dealership confirmed that the rear parcel shelf was not fully in place and explained that the sensor only detects one side(in my case the trunk partition was in its place on one side ) , allowing the top to operate even when unsafe. They did not cover the damage under warranty. The vehicle was inspected by the authorized Mini Cooper dealership at the time of the incident. No police or independent inspections have been conducted. No warning lamps, messages, or alerts appeared, and the roof operated normally, giving no indication that the partition was not fully in place. The vehicle was only three months old. The shattered glass spread throughout the backseat and trunk area, creating a serious risk of injury to any passengers in the rear. Luckily no one was in the back at the time of the incident
