ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM, POWER TRAIN
I own a 2025 Kia EV6 Wind RWD. At approximately 14,655 miles, the vehicle experienced a confirmed Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) failure that resulted in loss of 12-volt charging and reduced motive power. On August 1, 2026, while reversing the vehicle, I heard a loud pop from underneath the rear seating area. Immediately afterward, the red 12-volt battery warning light illuminated and the vehicle displayed a “Check Electrical Vehicle System” message. Because I was concerned that the vehicle was no longer charging the 12-volt battery, I externally charged the 12-volt battery with a smart charger and then measured the battery voltage with a multimeter. With the vehicle off, the battery measured 12.99 volts. After starting the vehicle and confirming it was in READY mode, the voltage measured only 12.35 volts, indicating that the vehicle was not maintaining the 12-volt electrical system. When I drove the vehicle to Hilltop Kia on August 3, 2026, the vehicle had substantially reduced propulsion and would not exceed approximately 45 mph. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and documented DTC P1A961C, “LDC Internal Power Supply,” and DTC P1A9096, “LDC Input Voltage Sensor.” The dealer’s Kia diagnostic system showed LDC input voltage of only 1.7 volts, compared with a stated typical value of approximately 565.5 volts. The dealer replaced the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU), part number 36400-1XF06, and the high-voltage ICCU fuse, part number 375F2-GI040, under warranty. The cooling system was bled, diagnostic trouble codes were cleared, and the vehicle was road tested and returned to me on August 6, 2026. I purchased the vehicle new on November 28, 2025. My vehicle is a 2025 model year EV6 and is outside the earlier 2022-2024 EV6 ICCU recall population. I am filing this complaint because the ICCU failure caused the vehicle to stop charging the 12-volt electrical system and resulted in significantly reduced motive power. The symptoms and dealer-confirmed

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The door closed sensor fails intermittently. This causes the car to sound an alarm while driving, prevents locking of the doors, and results in automated sudden braking at low speeds, such as in heavy stop & go traffic, causing a significant crash hazard. When it engages in the emergency braking routine, it shifts out of gear, so you can’t prevent a rear collision by simply accelerating, you must rapidly shift the car into gear, first.

ENGINE, POWER TRAIN
Hi, I had to transport a few lumber pieces that did not fit into the trunk of my Kia EV6, so I had to leave the hatch open (I pulled it down as far as possible and secured it via a rope against the latch). When I started driving the car started beeping frantically, but allowed me to drive. When I crossed an intersection traffic came to a temporary halt, and when I came to a stop my Kia all of a sudden shut off and would not allow me to put it back into gear again. When traffic around me continued I was unable to move and presented a security hazard with cars coming from behind almost running into me because they expected me to move, which I couldn't. I inquired about this at my dealership this morning and was told that there is no way to override the car's behavior and that this behavior was a "safety feature" to ensure the car wouldn't be driven with the hatch open. Now I'm asking since when is it a safety issue to knowingly drive with the hatch open to transport an oversize item - shouldn't that decision be left to the operator of the vehicle? In my opinion it's a much bigger safety issue to all of a sudden disable the entire powertrain of the vehicle when coming to a brief stop. What if the brief stop would have happened on a highway or freeway? Regards, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

While charging at a L3 station, charging was interrupted with a pop (which turned out to be ablown fuse). Two warning lights appeared on the dashboard (battery and vehicle with exclamation points) as well as message to "Check electrical vehicle system". Kia Connect told me to exit the vehicle and that it would need to be towed to the dealer. Dealer Service Office confirmed it was not safe to be in the vehicle nor to drive it. Car had only 2311 miles at the time! From the dealer invoice the KDS was inoperative at the time. Fault codes: P1A961C LDS Internal Power Supply out of Range and P1A9096 LDC Input Voltage Sensor Component Internal Failure Confirmed 12V battery no charging in ready on. Live data does not match given good values. LDC input voltage ~2V, LDC Output voltage 11.4C Dealer replaced ICCU and ICCU HV Fuse. Filled and bled cooling system. Verified vehicle charges on L2 charger. (Note I had been charging on an L3; this has not been verified.) I was told the ICCU ASSY had a new part number and was coming from a different factory. This part had a cost of nearly $5000 but was covered under warranty. HV fuse also replaced under warranty.

SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
While driving car began to decelerate and the dash lit up with a number of ABS/Brake system failure symbols. I was on the highway traveling at abt 70 mph when the issue happened. Got car to coast off hwy onto an upward sloping exit. Stopped at a light. Turned off and back on and was able to gain minor speed got approx three blocks to a gas station. Pulled off and tried restarts. The screen stated there was an update pending, but it could not complete it because the Electronic Brake System failed. I tried triggering a brake reset but it didn’t work. Car was towed back to Dealership. Two days later the Dealership mechanic confirmed the issue was a failed Electronic Brake which must be replaced. Car has now been with Dealer for 10 days. Dealer stated the EBS was on back order and they do not have a timeline for the parts to come in. They’ve provided me a rental from their fleet which they are covering in full. Hoping this is resolved soon.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
2025 KIA EV6 ICCU (part#36401 1XFD5) failed at 2,658 miles. Failure occurred when power was applied after reversing out of a parking space, switching to drive and applying power. No safety issues as vehicle remained controllable. Vehicle went into "limp" mode. Build date of vehicle is 6/20/2025. KIA Dealer has replaced failed ICCU with updated unit (part#36400 1XFD6). No indication of failure occured prior to the failure (an audible "POP" heard from the rear cabin when the unit failed).

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
As I was driving, there was a loud pop that came from the rear of the car. The vehicle immediately flashed a warning to “check electrical systems”. I pulled over as quickly as possible but was faced with reduced acceleration. I ended up stuck in a parking lot awaiting a tow truck for over an hour with my dog and my wife in the car headed to a surgery appointment. The dealership has not confirmed anything but from research it seems to be a known issue that Kia has not addressed.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
While driving Friday 4/17/26, I heard a pop and the car displayed a message to "Check electric vehicle system." The car seemed to still drive so I drive it home. That evening the car would not charge. I called Jim Shorkey Kia on 4/18/26, where I bought the car, to schedule the car to be looked at. They told me to bring it in on Monday and they will try to squeeze me in so they can diagnose the issue. Later that morning, I took that car out and made it about a block away before the car displayed a new message to "Stop vehicle and check power supply." At this point, the car went into a limp mode, barely moving. I was able to turn around and drive it home. Had I been on the highway, I might have been put in a dangerous situation. Now that the car has been diagnosed, the service department called and told me that the failed component was the ICCU. From what I've read, Kia claims that 1% of cars suffer from this issue. However, this percentage seems unlikely due to the number of online complaints. I wanted my experience to be an official documented case of this since I've heard that Kia has issued limited recalls in other countries and on older model Kia EV6's in the US.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER
KIA has created a safety hazard by removing the ability for the driver to select LIGHT or DARK mode for the two 7" data and infotainment screens in their 2025 and forward EV6 electric cars. Like many, I have to drive in very fast busy commuter traffic on highway I-66. (exaserbated by driving into the sun in the AM) The DARK mode screens have insufficient contrast even with the screen lighting turned all the way up. It takes the drivers eyes away from the road longer than is safe, particularly in high speed freeway commuter traffic. This is seriously exacerbated if the driver uses sunglasses because of the sun. This is obviously not an issue confined to highway I-66, or me.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
While driving on a sunny day on a 35mph road, my dashboard reported “Check Electrical Vehicle System”. A red battery symbol appeared and my cruise control disengaged with a message “requirements not met”. When I got home I read my 12 volt battery monitor that reported the battery was 11.99v and only had a 60% state of charge. Just prior to this short drive from home, my battery was 12.77v and had a 100% state of charge. I put in my ODB reader and it provided two error codes: P1A9096 and P1A961C. The first error code is the result of an ICCU failure in its DC to DC circuit (the one that charges the 12V battery from traction battery). Using a battery charger, I was able to fully recharge the 12volt battery. My monitor says that it’s healthy with 100% state of charge. Turning the car back on resulted in a rapid drain of the battery from 100% to 93% in just five minutes while parked. The electrical system failure warning lights are still lit. I’m having my car towed for repair. If this failure had occurred more than 10 minutes from my home, I would’ve been stranded.
