SummaryDelivery Stop/Service Action: Shock Absorber Rear Axle MODEL F56 (MINI Hardtop) SITUATION A rear shock absorber with a malfunctioning damper valve may have been fitted into some vehicles. Important note: In the group of identified vehicles, only four shock absorbers in total are affected. The damper function of these four units is only partially effective. These four shock absorbers can be identified, based on a particular date and serial number, as seen in the attachment M330114 Labels. This Service Action involves F56 MINI Hardtop vehicles produced from April 7, 2014 through May 14, 2014. First check if a Service Action label with a code number 67 is already attached to the B-pillar. If a code number 67 has been punched out, the Campaign has already been performed and no further action is necessary. Vehicles which require this Service Action to be completed will show it as "Open" when checked either in the "Service Menu" of DCSnet (Dealer Communication System) or with the Key Reader.

SummaryVehicle Honks for 20 Seconds when Left in Neutral. INFORMATION This is normal vehicle operation if the customer leaves the vehicle (with the key in pocket) in Neutral without being shifted into Park. The honking noise notifies the customer that if the shifter is not put into Park position, the vehicle will roll away or, if left alone for longer periods, have a discharged battery. Please refer to the attached information sheet for further information. Additional information may be found in the Owner's Manual for the vehicle. ATTACHMENTS View PDF attachment M610414_Flyer.

SummaryF56 Make Good Program: Install Accessory Roof Graphic or Mirror Caps. Due to production restrictions at Plant Oxford, certain F56 vehicles produced in May and June of this year cannot be built with the factory option for the contrasting roof and/or mirror caps. This production issue was caused by the plant expanding its paint capabilities to meet increasing vehicle demand. In a continuing effort to maintain the utmost in Motorer satisfaction, MINI USA is offering our dealer partners an alternative solution, the "Make Good" program. For all affected MINI F56 vehicles: * Produced from May 1, 2014 to June 30, 2014 and * Built without the factory order "Contrasting Roof and Mirror Caps" option (382 and 383) Your MINI dealer can offer these Motorers the installation of an accessory roof graphic or set of mirror caps. The Motorer has the choice of either the accessory roof graphic or exterior mirror caps, not both. MINI Area Manager (AM) "Field Authorization" (FAS) is not required. Note: For eligible vehicles (VINs) that are affected by this production restriction, the procedure outlined in this bulletin only applies to mirror caps or roof graphics installed by your dealer. Mirror caps or roof graphics installed through the MINI USA "VIA" (VDC-Installed Accessory) program are not eligible for reimbursement through this Make Good Program.

SummaryN18: Service Engine Soon Lamp (MIL) May Come On at High Altitude. The Service Engine Soon lamp (MIL) is illuminated and engine power output is reduced. This could only occur only in areas high above sea level (greater than 5,000 feet) and more frequently with colder outside temperatures. The following faults will be stored in the DME, and no engine mechanical problems are found. * 2C56 - Charging pressure control, plausibility Pressure too high * 2C58 - Charging pressure control, switch-off: pressure build-up blocked Unfavorable DME software

SummaryN16: Fault 274D Mixture Adaptation Is Stored in the DME. Certain low speed, light-load driving conditions at lower outside temperatures could cause the Service Engine Soon lamp (MIL) to illuminate. The following fault would be stored in the DME: Fault 274D: Mixture adaptation, lower engine speed range (mixture too lean) CAUSE 1. Possible intake/exhaust leaks, or a faulty component as listed in the test plan 2. Unfavorable DME software

SummaryB38 and B48 Engines: Engine Oil Pressure Faults Stored in DME Memory. INFORMATION When diagnosing the vehicle, the following fault is stored in the DME: FC 1C0102 Engine Oil Pressure control, plausibility, static: pressure too low If the vehicle's integration level is not F056-14-11-500 or higher, and no other faults related to the engine oil pump or engine oil pressure regulating valve are stored in the DME, it can be ignored. This fault will not illuminate the Service Engine Soon lamp. When available, the vehicle can be reprogrammed to integration level F056-14-11-500 or higher to eliminate this erroneous fault. The release of this integration level is scheduled for December 2014. This bulletin will be updated when the applicable programming software is available. If one of the following faults is stored in the DME memory in conjunction with the fault above, or the oil pressure warning lamp is illuminated, proceed with diagnosing the vehicle with the applicable test plan for the fault stored. FC 1C2002 Oil pump, mechanical: Oil pressure too low And/or FC 1C0301 Oil pressure regulating valve, mechanical: hangs in a fully energized position (minimum oil pressure WARRANTY INFORMATION Not applicable.

SummaryB38 and B48 Engines: Grease Residue Found at Bottom of Transmission Bell Housing. INFORMATION While performing repairs to the underside of the vehicle, the technician may notice yellow grease residue has formed on the lowest point of the transmission bell housing near the engine starter. The residue is not related to the engine oil or transmission fluid. The grease was applied to the starter during vehicle assembly. If the residue is noticed, the grease can be wiped away with a shop towel. The residue will stop accumulating after the engine has been operated for a few hundred miles. If the residue were to drip from the bell housing, it would be caught by the under body covering and would not create a customer complaint. In a severe case, some marks may be seen on the engine side of the under body covering. The grease drippings will not be seen on the ground under the vehicle. Do not remove or replace any components.
