The contact owns a 2022 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that after starting the engine, the instrument panel display would not turn on. During the failure, safety features such as the speedometer and fuel gauge were not available to the driver. The contact indicated that the failure was intermittent. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who performed a software update but the failure continued to occur. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. July 5, 2022. Engine Lifter Failure. While driving my new 2022 Yukon Denali (with only 14,400 miles on it), I made a right hand turn into a parking lot. The engine just shut off. No warning lights ever came on. The only thing I had noticed was some unknown noise when I started up the truck and getting underway. The sound promptly went away. I attempted to restart the engine but it would not even turn over. My vehicle was blocking the driveway to the parking lot, creating a traffic hazard on a major street. I had the vehicle towed to a GM dealer who determined the next day that engine had failed due to a known lifter problem. The head mechanic was able to get the truck restarted and the same issue replicated itself. The mechanic received approval to replace the entire engine assembly, but it is on back order. There is no ETA to when the parts will be available. I am fortunate that the vehicle did not shut down in a lane of traffic, on the freeway, or out in the desert or mountains. From my research, this issue with the engine lifters in the 6.2 liter engine has been known by GM for well over 10 years. The engine needs to be recalled and the lifter issue corrected.

- #11472298July 5, 2022ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, STEERING, SUSPENSION
Vehicle has been in for repair on (4) separate occasions for the same issue. Without warning, several error messages will pop up indicating problems with power steering, suspension, air bags, etc. In all there are 7 or 8 different error messages that all appear at once, but as soon as they do appear the power steering stops working. This has happened both from a cold start and while driving. In total the vehicle has lost power steering on 12-15 separate occasions. The service department at the dealership has had a hard time diagnosing the problem, but recently said that a faulty serial gateway module was to blame. After waiting 1.5 months for a replacement part, I was told that the repair had been made and the vehicle was ready for pick up. Within 5 minutes of leaving the dealership the power steering failed again while driving, forcing me off to the side of a busy road. The same 7-8 error messages appeared on the screen.

- #11455742March 8, 2022UNKNOWN OR OTHER, LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING, LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST
The heads up display starting with the 2022 model removed the colored lane departure warning from the sides of the road graphic that is in line with the road and moved it to a very small display to the left side of the driver's field of view. Now to see the lane departure warning requires a shift of the driver's view to the left and a head tilt if wearing progression bifocals. On prior year models the colored warning provided an early alert well before the seat vibrates as the warning. Taking my vision off the road caused me to come up on a very slow moving car that required the automatic braking to slow my vehicle

- #11451038February 8, 2022AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Purchased the vehicle brand new on 12/3/21. On 12/21/21 vehicle started to display 'Service Safety Restraint System' and Airbag light was on. Also, all controls on the overhead console (sunroof, sunroof shade, MAP lights, rear access control, auto folding seat control) were no longer working. The passenger airbag light on the overhead console that notifies if the airbag is on or off was also no longer lighting up. The interior overhead lights in all 3 rows of the vehicle are not working and the fold down mirror lights are not working. I contacted my local dealership and they said the overhead console had failed and was the cause of the issues. They stated they had ordered the part and that I could come pickup my vehicle. They did state the part was backordered and it could be weeks before the part arrived. I asked if the vehicle was safe to drive as the airbag light was on, the passenger airbag light was no longer lit up, and the 'Service Safety Restraint System' error continued to display. They stated they could not guarantee that the airbag system was functioning properly, but I could still come get the vehicle. I asked if they had a loaner vehicle they could provide me with as I was concerned about the airbag system not functioning properly and they stated they did not have any loaner vehicles. I have contacted the dealership several times to see if there are any updates on the part and they have told me the part is still backordered and have no ETA of when the part may be in. So, I have been driving around in a vehicle for almost two months that has non-functioning airbags. This is a significant safety hazard.
