The Onstar system and Wifi connectivity stopped working over a week ago. The vehicle is less than two-years old, but it had three recalls which we took it in for this past week. We were told by the GMC dealership that one of the recalls would correct the problem with the Onstar and Wifi connectivity. However, it did not and now we are being told that the Onstar module needs to be replaced, and the dealer says it isn't under warranty. GMC has tied the warranty of the Onstar module to the miles instead of the time in-service. Many other customers are experiencing the same issue. GM markets Onstar as one of their safety features and as such repairs should be covered by the manufacturer.

In the past few months this truck has been worked on twice. First was the valve body and now it is the coolant control valve. These things have caused my truck to completely slow down or shut down without warning.

The contact owns a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V27400 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted and initially confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact received notification that the parts for the recall repair were available. Upon arrival to the dealer, the contact was informed that the recall repair would be an oil change with thicker, higher viscosity oil. The contact expressed concerns that the failure might occur because the engine was not replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

This has now happened 4 times and I'm taking the truck to the dealership to figure out what the issue is. At high speeds, 65 to 75 mph, on the freeway, the rear brakes suddenly lock up for no apparent reason. Extremely dangerous for myself and surrounding vehicles, especially behind me. The most recent incident pretty much gave me whiplash because it's unexpected with no warnings whatsoever. The freeway was clear, with light traffic. I was almost rear ended because the vehicle behind me had no reason to believe the my vehicle was going to suddenly come to an abrupt stop. I looked up any known similar issues for the 2023 model, and found that there GMC did a recall for similar issues on the up to 2022 models, but that the issue had been resolved. Obviously it hasn't.

On August 17, 2025 while traveling north on the Garden State Parkway in New Jersey, my vehicle suffered a catastrophic engine failure without warning. Fortunately, I was able to get off the roadway without incident. This is the SECOND time this has occurred in the past 4 months. (1st NHTSA Complaint 04/18/2025 #11655375) This second engine failure occurred with less than 6000 miles, and only about 3 months of driving. As of this report, the vehicle has not been repaired.

Truck will down shift and transmission will slam, super hard. feels like i hit something. almost causing accident. dealership refuses to service my truck or even take a look at the transmission because "its not broken yet" in their words " it needs to fail before they can service it or even look at it, because they wont get paid." I have expressed my concerns about this safety issue and at this point they are being negligent. My truck is a 2023 gmc sierra 1500 with 3.0 duramax . still under warranty with only 35k miles.

- #11687675September 16, 2025ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM, STEERING
The vehicle has suffered repeated systemic electrical failures all while being under 8,000 miles. What component/system failed? Power distribution/fuse block, starter, fuel pump control module, horn circuit, body control module, instrument cluster, and charging system. Error codes documented include P0627 (Fuel Pump Control Circuit), U0100 (Lost Comm ECM/PCM), B1325 (Control Module Power Low), U0140 (Lost Comm BCM), and B1000 (ECM fault). All repairs are documented by the dealer, and the truck remains available for inspection. How was safety at risk? The truck lost propulsion at speed, emitted smoke from the engine bay, and became disabled in traffic, placing my family, including my toddler, in immediate danger of collision and fire. Electrical defects also disabled horn and instrument cluster, removing critical warning and signaling functions. These electrical issues have been ongoing for months and GM refuses to replace and can't seem to fix it. Has it been confirmed? Yes. Each failure was diagnosed and confirmed by an authorized GM dealer. Components replaced include fuse block, starter, fuel system computer, horn assembly, and cluster. Despite repairs, issues recur. Inspected by others? GM corporate case managers are aware and have acknowledged defects, though they have refused to issue written determinations. Insurance has not yet been involved, but records are available. The dealer has attempted to repaid more than 4 times with no success. Warning lamps/messages? Yes. Prior to and during failures, vehicle displayed repeated “Service Electrical System,” “Low Voltage,” and communication fault codes. Cluster intermittently blacked out. Smoke in engine bay indicated immediate fire hazard. Cumulative out-of-service days exceeding 20. The failures pose unacceptable risk of fire, sudden propulsion loss, and loss of critical safety functions. I have ALL calls with GM recorded and transcribed as I am in SC (single party recording state) and can provide those.

To All Concerned, I scheduled my vehicle for routine maintenance, but more importantly, I scheduled my check engine light indicator logo to be activated. Following the maintenance and testing of my engine, the dealership informed me that my vehicle passed. For that matter, they put me right back on the road for the check engine light to come on the following morning, and it's still on and off as it pleases. During these very dangerous and extreme manmade and natural disasters GMC seems to think I will have peace of mind because they added an additional 5000 miles to the warranty. What good is that gonna do when for: 1. We arent safe… every scenario you can imagine. 2. Can't travel anywhere in confidence in my vehicle, because they hope I don't breakdown. 3. They gamble with my and other safe driver lives trying to save money. Our vehicles are two-ton vessels capable of creating all kinds of mess. 4. I bet if I don't pay GMC coming for their property so expect the same in return. 5. You can't make this right because my vehicle just tg the dealership two days ago. Please get to the bottom of this a save me the time, aggregation, and hassle of someone trying to convince me I'm fine… well Im not. The upper part of the grill detached on my 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 while going 65mph on the higway. The part is about 4 inches wide by 6 ft long. People behind me in traffic were swerving and dodging to avoid hitting it. GM knows about this problem (see safety recall #N242490120), but the scope of the affected vehicles is incorrect, so my truck is not included. There were no signs that the part was going to fail before hand.

The transmission control mod is bad. This is a persistent problem and that's why it is on back order for up to a year. It is unethical to not issue a recall as customers have to continue to pay for the vehicle while not getting a replacement of equal capabilities. I bought a 3/4 ton truck to haul for work, not getting something that can do the same while a pay $1000+ a month is wrong. For the NHTSA not to get involved, issue some sort of recall, and allow GM to continue to take people's money while their vehicles depreciate is wrong. Is this so the government can get paid back from GM for the bailout 15 years ago?

On [XXX], at approximately [XXX], while driving northbound on [XXX] between [XXX] and [XXX] (Austin, TX) at roughly 65 mph, I suddenly heard a loud cracking and popping sound from the front of the vehicle. As I began to ease off the gas, unsure of what was happening, I observed what appeared to be a black object quickly shoot upward from the front driver’s side of the vehicle while traveling at highway speed. I immediately took the next exit [XXX] ) to assess the situation. I had no idea what to expect; my mind kept jumping to either hitting road debris or maybe even a blowout. To my astonishment, once I was safely on the side of the road and out of my vehicle, I noticed that the front left fender flare had completely detached from the vehicle suddenly and without warning while cruising at normal highway speeds. The 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 in question had approximately 29,800 miles at the time of this incident. I immediately contacted the dealer to schedule a repair, and all pertinent records, including photographs and a repair invoice, can be made available upon request. Part of the grille of my 2023 GMC sierra AT4X flew off driving 75 miles per hour on the highway, i believe it has to do with the fasteners of the upper grille bezel.

My rear wheels randomly lock up and truck violently shakes. It does it randomly in very long trips so GM and every dealer I've brought it to just says that "they cant help me because they cant get it to replicate. Had the same issue with my 2020 and it has an open recall for the exact same thing. This is very dangerous and is going to get someone hurt one day if gm isn't help responsible and fixed their valve body failures for ALL of the 10L1000 L5Ps. Not just 2020-2022....it's ALL OF THEM. 2020-2025!!!
