I have a 2013 GMC 1500 with the 6.2L Engine. There was a recall on my engine when I purchased it used with 21K on the odometer. I took it in for the 5K oil change at 26K miles and the "performed the recall oil change" replacing the oil with 0W40 oil saying this should "fix the recall". At 32K miles my engine blew up on Christmas Eve 12/24/2025 and left my son and I stranded on the side of the road. I had the truck towed to the GMC dealer and they are now in the process of replacing the entire engine. I have now been without my truck for over a month because several other owners with 6.2L engines are having the same issue.

I had the truck inspected for recall N25249400 on August 11, 2025 with 24,610 miles. It passed the recall inspection and the dealer changed the oil to GM recall recommended oil. On January 18, 2026 with 28,275 miles, the engine seized while on a major highway. The truck lost all power and just turned off amd would not start or turn over. The vehicle was towed by the Police due to the vehicle being in a dangerous spot in the middle of a lane on the highway whi h I had to pay out of pocket. January 19, 2026, the GM dealer confirmed that the truck needs a new engine due to the recall defect. They said that they had just ordered a new engine, but does olnot know hpw long ot will take to get and then install. The dealer is unable to provide a rental vehicle which means, I can't WORK!

I have a 2023 GMC Delnali 1500 and the engine blew up 1-14-26 after the local CMC dealer 2 months ago done a check up recall from GMC that said they would do a test on the engine and cahnge the oil with a heavier weight oil that would solve the problem. After the dealer done the test and changed the oil to a heavier weight I was told all was good. Well 2 months later the engine blew up while I was driving down the road at 50 miles and the truck lost all propulsion. I had the truck towed to my house because noone knew what was wrong with it. I called the local dealer the next day and I had the truck towed to them. They checked the engine and said it blew apart and that GMC will replace the engine and also install a new radiator when all the parts are available. The dealership Laura Buick GMC and employees has been fantastic and have supplied me with a vehicle to drive till the repair is finished.

Driving at 35 mph in traffic and the RPMs started to increase to 3500rpm and vehicle started to slow down inevitably putting me into Reduced Acceleration..limp mode. Truck would not shift into Reverse either once I could safely merge out of traffic and put into park. Very very dangerous and scary situation.

Vehicle passed initial inspection and had higher viscosity oil installed. After driving for the past six months I noticed a burning oil smell inside the truck. The smell gets intense at times especially during highway driving. The OW-40 viscosity oil is causing high fumes within the cockpit. Please consider checking this issue out during your added investigation into the L-87 engine failure. I shouldn't have to drive with the windows down but I do. I will have the truck inspected during my next oil change next week.

I have a 2023 GMC Sierra HD3500 6.6 Duramax. February of 2025 the valve body failed after 23,000 miles. The failure happened when the transmission had an extremely hard shift at 55 mph and then went into 5 gear limp mode. Computer through code P0700 and P0747. The P0747 is the code that tells you the valve body failed. When I took the truck to the dealer, they would not let me take the truck home because of the high risk of the transmission locking up and causing bodily injury, aka crash. Since the valve body was back ordered, I was warmed that it may be a month to get a replacement and install it. I finally got the truck back after 33 days. To add to the frustration, GM would not give me a loaner truck. They would give me a loaner SUV but that did not have what I needed out of a vehicle.

Summary of Issue On [XXX], my family and I departed Kansas City, Missouri, for a camping trip to Great Smoky Mountains National Park (Cades Cove), Tennessee, approximately 800 miles away. We were towing a 2020 Forest River Salem FSX/RTX travel trailer, estimated at approximately 6,000 pounds loaded, using a Reese weight distribution hitch with integrated sway control. This load was well below the rated towing capacity of the vehicle. On [XXX], while driving without the trailer attached, the vehicle displayed multiple warnings including “Reduced Engine Power” and a transmission system alert. I immediately pulled over, shut the vehicle off, and restarted it. The warnings persisted. I cautiously drove approximately five miles to Twin City GMC, where the vehicle was diagnosed with a failed transmission valve body. Dealer and Manufacturer Response The service manager at Twin City GMC informed me that the required valve body was on national backorder, with multiple vehicles ahead of mine, and that wait times had reached up to three months. To confirm, I contacted Molle Chevrolet (Blue Springs, MO) and Randy Curnow GMC (Kansas City, KS). Both dealerships independently confirmed that this was a known and recurring issue, and that extended backorders for the valve body were common. I was informed that GMC could provide a daily rental allowance, but the rental vehicle would not permit towing. With my family, three dogs, and travel trailer stranded 800 miles from home, this option was not viable. As a result, I was effectively forced to trade in my truck and purchase a replacement vehicle to safely return home. Manufacturer Awareness and Complaint History GMC has demonstrated awareness of this issue through service bulletins, widespread owner reports, and media documentation addressing transmission valve body failures and parts shortages. My engine started making a clicking noise like a playing card in a bicycle spokes. Was able to drive and make it to dealership and they determined that my engine crankshaft had to much end play and they needed to replace the engine. They had my truck approximately 2 weeks, did not provide me a loaner, nor any reimbursement for being without my truck during this time. My truck was still under the factory bumper to bumper warranty at the time.

Driving on highway at 60mph while towing a travel trailer and the rear tires briefly locked up, the check engine light came on with an explanation mark (!) and the dash displaying a major warning. The truck went into "limp mode." Computer code read P0747. Dealer confirmed issue and replaced valve body. Truck had 22,000 miles. Appears 2023 vehicles should be added to the original recall for long-term warranty protection.

The OnStar vehicle locater, GPS maps, clock (auto update) are not responsive as of the 2nd week of December 2025. My truck cannot be located via OnStar, I cannot use the GPS Maps for directions, and the Clock reads 12 minutes fast when I put it into Auto Update mode. Reported to my GMC dealer (Elizabeth City GMC, Elizabeth City, NC 27909, and had in for service 3 times without correction of the issue! The dealership conducted a Software System Update which cost me $400.00, and still did not correct the issue. I spoke with OnStar three (3) times to try and correct issues but they did not resolve the problems either. OnStar stated it is a GMC issue............My last service at the Elizabeth City GMC dealer the Service Tech stated the OnStar Module is bad and requires replacement, and stated it will be an additional $550.00 +/-!!! Please advise and assist in further action I can take as this issue should be a Warranty issue and replaced by GMC and/or OnStar!!! Class Action Suit in line! Thank you.

While driving down the highway the top part of the front of the grill flew off bounced over top of my vehicle and landed on the ground in the highway where the car behind me then ran it over and it blew into the median. I notified my local GMC dealer who said there is no active recall. Filed a complaint with GMC as this is a known issue and has already been recalled on the 2022 model. They reviewed and denied my claim at this time. It is a known manufacturer issue and creates a highway hazard if they continue to blow off and possibly hit or injure athers
