SummaryDTC 02261 (Data medium - Faulty) is sporadically set in the navigation control module, J401 (address word 37). The vehicle has the MY2014 navigation database installed. The DVD label should read "Version 2013/2014". If the DTC is static, or if there are functional issues with the navigation system, this bulletin does not apply. A change in the MY2014 navigation software is causing the RNS-E unit to trigger this DTC.

SummarySupersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 11-27 dated August 4, 2011. The service interval display cannot be reset. If the service interval display is reset under the menu point Service Work in Guided Functions or Guided Fault Finding, the counter for the mileage and time-related service may not be reset. Therefore, Service due or Service! is still shown.

SummaryDTC 00003 (Control Module - no or incorrect basic setting/adaptation) is stored in the instrument cluster control module, J285 (address word 17). It may be present following a reset of the Service Reminder Interval. There are no functional issues with the instrument cluster. The instrument cluster is pre-programmed to allow a maximum service interval of 15,000 kilometers, and checks to see that this value is not exceeded. The US market uses a service interval of 10,000 miles, which is equal to 16,000 kilometers. Because this value is higher than the maximum allowed service interval, the discrepancy causes the DTC to set.

SummaryAfter a mechatronics, torque converter, or complete gearbox replacement, the clutches must be adapted to the new component. This requires a gradual move of the clutch linings toward the optimal operating points in the most diverse load conditions. As a result, sporadic driving power disruptions lasting for less than a second or reduced shift comfort are possible over the first 500 miles. This is normal, and these issues will decrease over time. The issues can also occur if the adaptation values of the gearbox were deleted.

SummarySupersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 12-61 dated September 25, 2012. The customer complains that when he or she is trying to place a phone call from the vehicle while using a Bluetooth®-connected phone, the phone call disconnects before it begins and an error shows on the MMI display. The message may be "Function not supported" or "Network error". The customer is using a phone with the Android operating system. In addition, Skype®, or another network-based communication software, is installed on the phone. Call can be placed directly from the phone without a problem. When the phone gets the request to place a call from the vehicle, a prompt appears on the phone asking the user to choose how the call should be placed. If the prompt is ignored, the MMI system disconnects the call assuming the phone is not responding.

SummarySupersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 11-29 dated December 20, 2011. The Bluetooth telephone bonding tone is too loud or quiet for the customer. When a telephone is connected to the vehicle via the Bluetooth wireless connection, a tone is played over the audio system. The volume of this tone correlates to the volume level of the phone preparation voice control. This volume level is independent of the volume during telephone calls.

SummarySupersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 96 number 12-37 dated June 11, 2012. The customer may report that the handheld transmitter cannot be programmed to the garage door opener control module, J530. The customer's door opener system may not be compatible with J530. The battery in the handheld transmitter may be too weak for a good signal. The battery charge may be sufficient to operate the garage door opener, but not enough to program the remote transmitter to the vehicle system. In A4 Model Years 2005 - 2006 and A3 Model Year 2009, the actual location of the garage door opener control module differs from the location shown in the owner's manual (opposite side of front bumper). The customer may misunderstand the programming procedure, particularly if the customer's HomeLink® opener system is using an alternate code. The handheld transmitter's programming function may become inoperative, or the transmitter is too far away from J530. Interference prevents the communication between handheld transmitter and J530. If the vehicle flashes during the programming of a handheld transmitter, this does not necessarily indicate that the programming was successful; it only indicates that the vehicle has recognized and saved a signal.

SummaryCustomer may report sporadically hearing the parking brake being actuated after the vehicle has been switched off. If the customer does not identify the sound as the sound of the parking brake being actuated, he or she may simply complain of hearing noises from the rear brakes. Ignition is switched off. Steering is locked. Park is selected. Parking brake is not engaged. If the electro-mechanical parking brake is not operated for some time, the free play between brake pads and brake discs increases because of normal brake pad wear. The parking brake control unit performs an automatic correction about every 621 miles (1,000 km). On A8 models, the brake pad thickness is also calculated.

SummaryWork procedure revised to exclude the installation of the spring loaded flap insert. Installation video instructions removed. SAGA claiming instructions updated. As diesel engine passenger vehicles become more popular, auto manufacturers have seen an increase in the number of misfueling cases where diesel engine vehicles are mistakenly fueled with gasoline. The resulting fuel system contamination can lead to costly repairs that are not covered under warranty. As an additional safeguard to help prevent a gasoline fuel pump nozzle from being used to fuel a TDI® Clean Diesel engine vehicle, dealers will install a misfueling guard in the fuel filler neck of vehicles affected by this action. Additionally, a new fuel filler neck cap will also be installed. Please note: The misfueling guard is designed to prevent a gasoline fuel pump nozzle from entering a vehicle?s fuel filler neck, thereby reducing the risk of fuel system contamination from gasoline. Even with this guard installed, remind anyone who refuels the vehicle that it requires diesel fuel, and to double-check the fuel pump to ensure the correct fuel is selected before filling the tank.
