AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The airbag light first came on about 60 days ago, the first time I tried to use the cruise control after light was first noticed the cruise control did not work. My concern is that as long as the light is on the airbag(s) may or may not deploy. This airbag light has stayed on constantly since first appeared, the cruise control will work intermittently. The component has not been inspected but there is a recall, 12V092000:Air Bag Clockspring Replacement, that addresses this exact concern but appears my VIN is not included. This is obviously a problem on other VIN ranges because mine suffers from this and it is obvious Toyota is aware there is a problem but it just hasn't had enough complaints with my VIN range, likely because there are not as many on the road as the vehicle is 14 years old. I am concerned for my family's safety as well as my own if the airbag fails to deploy because of an accident.

March 9th I went to take my 2008 Toyota Tacoma in for an inspection, failed due to 3 rustholes in frame and frame is warped,there is only 90838 miles on this vehicle Cost of repair is very $$$$

i have a 2008 toyota tacoma with a heavily rusted frame. been trying to get toyota to replace it but their no HELP many of the crossmember are failing and rotted away and today 3/12/2023 the gas tank support fail and made the gas tank almost fall out while driving at 50 mph. *yes * yes MY SAFELY was and other driver also *NO *i have been trying to get toyota to replace the frame but they are not being helpful

The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that while receiving an oil change, the independent mechanic diagnosed the vehicle with 50% frame loss. The contact referred the failure to TSB: VH6 (Subframe Corrosion). The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by a dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 147,500.

1. Some years ago Toyota recalled the vehicle for inspection of the frame. Since it was relatively new, it did not need a frame replacement at that time. They claimed to have enhanced protection with some kind of coating. 2. Warrantee for frame corrosion was extended for 12 years but I did not receive a notice for reinspection when that was nearing the end for my vehicle. 3. Although my vehicle just passed inspection, I have been informed that corrosion is progressing, and I will not pass inspection in one two or three years. 4. My vehicle which has low mileage and is otherwise perfectly serviceable for my purposes, will have to be junked because Toyota refuses to take responsibility for shoddy manufacturing (or at least shoddy steel fabrication).

We were experiencing a loud rattling noise under the passenger side steer tire and when we hit bumps, it was hard to control the steering and bouncing. When inspected by our mechanic, we found that the frame had rusted through and broke near the passenger side wheel and will no longer pass inspection due to safety. The entire frame has extensive rust issues, even though under costed at time of purchase and two other times during our ownership and was last inspected by Toyota in April 2018 and told all was ok, even though there was an open extension on replacing rusted frames for the 2008 Toyota Tacomas.

The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated while reversing at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle struck the curb. The contact heard an abnormally loud sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the subframe was fractured due to extreme rust. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and the contact was informed that the vehicle was out of warranty. The failure mileage was 113,000.

This 2008 Toyota Tacoma had a recall because the frames of the vehicles are rotting out. Most Toyota's with this problem had a 15 year recall period. This vehicle had a 12 year recall period. My son Trevor bought this truck in 2020. He had no knowledge of this recall. He recently did his VT state vehicle inspection and was told that the frame is rotting and needs to be replaced. Is there anything that can be done at this point?

My stepdaughter purchased a 2008 Toyota Tacoma a few months ago. During the time of having the vehicle serviced her mechanic pointed out all the rust throughout the frame of the vehicle. I have contacted Toyota Corporate; they refuse for me to open a ticket and to get this safety issue resolved. Not only is the rust on the frame, but it's also evolving the suspension. There is also evidence that this vehicle is from Vermont which would have caused more of a rust issue besides the manufacture forgetting to coat the frame.

The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Takoma. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle and steering wheel would shake and vibrate. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic and local dealer who diagnosed that the subframe had experienced severe rusting and corrosion causing multiple holes to be present in the frame and the frame needed to be replaced. The contact was advised that due to the condition of the subframe the vehicle was unsafe to operate. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 170,000.

Hello, I have a 2008 Toyota Tacoma that I bought new from the dealer in 2008. In 2021, around October, I noticed the frame has rusted. After crawling under the truck, I realized this is bad. There were holes in the frame. One of them, I was able to stick my finger in. This is a dangerous condition and I hope there is a fix for it. My truck is in excellent condition with only 80,000 miles on it. I take very good care of it and hope to get another 250,000 miles out of it. Will Toyota fix it?

SUSPENSION
The issued with my truck is the rust in the frame underneath, I purchased the truck in August of 2020. I didn't noticed any issued until I went to get the safety inspection done in June 2021 and it failed. The mechanic showed me the problem so I went to a body shop to get some metal added to the frame and got it reinspect it and it passed. After doing some research on these trucks saw that there was a recalled for almost 10 years from Toyota but it ended in March 2021. Now, this year when my inspection was due the same problem occur; it failed again. It seems like this problem will continue every year, I would like to know if there's anyway this recall can be reopen after talking to some mechanics they seem to still run in to these Tacoma Trucks showing up with this rusted frame problem. I hope it never happens but there's always the possibility of hitting a nasty pothole on the highway and who knows what might happen. I considered this a huge safety issue. I bought the truck as is from a small used car dealer, which of course did not tell me about this problem. I have spent almost $1,500 to get it to just pass inspection and this problem will never go away.

The contact was also informed that the failure was common. The contact stated that the vehicle was included in a service campaign where rust inhibitor was applied to the chassis of the vehicle however, the treatment failed to prevent the subframe from rusting. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 67,000.

Frame has rusted to the point of actually having a hole that I can put my finger through. The truck has only 79000 miles on it and is in excellent shape otherwise. I bought it new from the dealer in 2008. I think this is a potentially dangerous condition but could be repaired via an Toyota recall. My father was a Toyota G.M. and Toyota's are all my family have owned for 30 some years. I hope Toyota will honor the re-call. We purchased our 2008 Toyota Tacoma pick up about 2012 from Stephen's Toyota in Bristol,Connecticut. Recently it went in for an oil change and emissions testing, our mechanic and the owner of the garage told us to get in touch with Toyota right away, the frame on your truck should be covered under the recall, the truck is in perfect condition inside and out and no ruse other than the frame falling apart. I touched base with the dealer but parts department just say's sorry it's not cover.. wtf.... something about the recall expired???? What I"m seeing on line is Recalls don't expire they transfer from owner to owner and "we" never have received any recalls on this truck and had no clue the frame was bad! My wife drives my child around in this truck ever single day... I need this problem taken ASAP... God for bid something happens and she get's into an accident with my son....
