SummaryComplaint The check engine light illuminates or the 48 V message is displayed in the instrument cluster Cause Fault code "P0A7F00" stored in the 48 V battery G1/3 and/or is current. Remedy 1. Perform software update: In the given problem case, update the software for the control unit G1/3 - 48 V on-board electrical system battery (48V LIB) : --> Remedy SW A0019020424 25/12 2. Carry out SOH reset routine: - Switch on ignition - Read actual value 209 in XENTRY Diagnostics at G1/3 (48 V battery) "State of Health Capacity-SOHC" Valid for OBD markets -- If the value is > 80%, no restoration process required -- If the value is < 81%, continue with the following steps Valid for non-OBD markets -- If the value is > 75%, no restoration process required -- If the value is < 76%, continue with the following steps Perform capacity restoration procedure: - Discharge 48 V battery in vehicle with ignition "On" and check SOC of 48 V battery in the instrument cluster's workshop menu - For SOC < 25%: Stop unloading and lock the vehicle with the key out of range; (bus idle) - After 1.5 h of bus idle: Charging the 48V battery - When SOC reaches or exceeds 65%, stop charging and lock the vehicle with the key out of range; (bus idle) - After 1.5 h of bus idle: Switch on ignition Read actual value 209 in XENTRY Diagnostics at G1/3 (48 V battery) "State of Health Capacity-SOHC" Valid for OBD markets - SOH > 82%: Process is complete and clear fault memory - SOH < 83%: Repeat the steps once more. If the value is still too low after 5 repetitions: Cancel healing process and provide feedback in TIPS case.

SummaryComplaint Single throttle lift-off clunking noise from the side shaft when moving off (audible at the outboard end). The clunk is heard once when changing from forward to reverse (and vice versa). Note: Sound file in attachment Cause If the complaint is eliminated by experimentally loosening the outboard collar nut (by 1 turn), the problem is due to micromovement in the connection between the wheel bearing inner race and the joint housing of the side shaft. Note: The collar nut must always be replaced after being loosened and must be tightened to the specified torque. Remedy Coat contact surface of side shaft with wheel bearing with Molykote paint. To do this, proceed as follows: 1. Remove outboard side shafts (extract outer joint gearing from wheel hub) 2. Clean contact surface A (see picture file in attachment "Outer joint housing before") before coating with Molykote, using "spirit" (free of dust and grease) 3. Coat contact surface A (see image file in attachment "Outer joint housing after") using Molykote and leave to dry for one hour in removed condition 4. Reinstall side shafts Note: Before using the antifriction coating (Molykote), stir or shake it well (for at least 1 minute).

SummaryIssue Mercedes-Benz AG, the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain subject vehicles, the 48-V on-board electrical system battery software might not meet current production specifications. A communication error may occur when reactivating the 48V lithium-ion battery during reinitialization. The system might detect and store this error, causing the malfunction indicator lamp to illuminate unnecessarily. Remedy MBUSA will conduct a service campaign. An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will update 48-V onboard electrical system battery software.

SummaryComplaint At low speeds and light brake pressure, brakes will make a groaning or honking noise. Cause Frictional vibrations with very light brake pressure/modulations. Remedy This condition can be duplicated on most vehicles. To validate, use a like for like reference vehicle. The noise is normal behavior under the conditions listed. With very light brake pressure this noise can be induced/caused due to normal brake pad and brake rotor vibrations. Exchanging brake components will not rectify.
