The windshield-mounted front monocular camera (Honda Sensing unit) overheated and failed/burnt out. This failure completely disabled the Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control systems, triggering multiple safety system warning lights on the dashboard.

COMPONENT THAT FAILED & AVAILABILITY: The vehicle's primary electrical architecture and data communications network (CAN bus) failed during a safety recall service for the SRS ECU and rearview camera. After attempting to complete the recall work, the vehicle is no longer able to start. SAFETY RISK: The manufacturer's federally mandated safety recall remedy compromised the vehicle's critical safety and control infrastructure. This rendered a previously reliable family vehicle entirely inoperable, destroying its ability to communicate, start, or turn on. It poses a systemic safety risk if the corporate recall procedure itself causes severe electronic failures in consumer vehicles. REPRODUCTION & DEALER CONFIRMATION: Yes. The failure was induced directly by Williams Honda ([XXX]) during service on Thursday, XXX. The dealership's Service Manager explicitly confirmed to me that their technicians compromised the electrical architecture while performing the SRS ECU and rearview camera recall work. The vehicle has remained dead at their facility ever since. INSPECTION BY OTHERS: The vehicle has been actively inspected by dealership technicians in coordination with Honda Engineering headquarters. It has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives, as no crash occurred. I have requested an inspection by a Honda Corporate Field Technical Specialist (FTS). WARNING LAMPS & PRIOR SYMPTOMS:NONE. Prior to this appointment, the vehicle was in perfect electrical and mechanical working order. There were absolutely no warning lamps, messages, or symptoms of any starting or electrical problems. The vehicle had just safely completed a seven-hour road trip immediately prior to being dropped off for the recall work. The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to accelerate, requiring the contact to forcefully depress the accelerator pedal to move the vehicle. The contact stated that multiple warning lights unexpectedly illuminated, including the Road Departure Mitigation system, Collision Mitigation Braking System, and Lane Departure Warning system warning lights, and all related safety features failed to operate. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000.

- #11760040August 27, 2026FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION, LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST
The monocular camera (multipurpose camera secured under the rear view mirror) has failed. This disables the following" Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS): Detects obstacles or vehicles ahead and helps brake automatically if a collision seems likely. Forward Collision Warning (FCW): Works with CMBS to send visual and audible alerts if you get too close to a vehicle in front of you. Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS): Adjusts steering torque to help keep your van centered in a detected lane. Lane Departure Warning (LDW): Alerts you if you drift across detected lane lines without using your turn signal. Road Departure Mitigation (RDM): Applies steering help or braking if you drift off the paved road entirely. Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC): Maintains a safe, set following distance behind a vehicle traveling ahead of you. These systems are helpful in keeping you safe while driving. The problem with camera failing cause these system warnings to populate on the dash. This is distracting. This has been confirmed with independent service center. Has not been inspected by manufacture. Started August 21. quoted $2200 to replace and recalibrate.

The car on a weekly basis or almost every time it is driven. The car jerks when driving at low speeds. This is a safety risk when driving for vehicles in front or behind me, as the car jerks forward. This has been mentioned to the dealer, but they stated a charge of 180 USD will be incurred for diagnoses. If you look at the NHTSA complaints database there are numerous complaints similar to what I am experiencing from other owners stating the same issue of jerkiness on the honda Odessey. I am surprised there is no recall on this. I put the date in down below but it happens almost every time the car is driven.

A warning for Power Tailgate Problem keeps coming up. It tried to open multiple times while driving, beeping at us. It wouldn’t open with the buttons at all. We had to manually open and close it. This makes the second time it’s done it. And it always has to do when it rains. Honda knows this is a well known issue with their odyssey’s and it needs recalled. The dealership wants us to pay for a well known issue. We had a friend with the same year odyssey and the same thing happened but their tailgate completely opened a few times while driving.

My Odyssey randomly began displaying all of the ADAS warning messages: The Brake System indicator light comes on, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Lane-Keeping Assist, Auto High Beam System error, etc. These came on beginning 7/25/26 and have come on everyday since causing the entire ADAS system to be inoperable. There have been a few days that they didn't come on immediately. I have had a few days where they came on half-way through my drive. This is a safety issue due to a defect in either the front camera or wiring to it, a nuisance, and something Honda needs to correct. It seems to be way too common of an issue according to my research. There hasn't been any damage to the van and no reason for these to come on. I have done research and see this has happened to many people. The replacement camera is costly as well as the calibration. Therefore, I haven't taken it to the dealership but I have discussed the issue with them. They agree that the camera is getting too hot and failing, which is causing the errors and of course all of those safety features fail simultaneously.

2018 Honda Odyssey Elite I am reporting an unresolved issue stemming from a failed recall remedy for NHTSA Safety Recall 23V-431 (Honda TSB 20-049) regarding the MOST bus fiber-optic network. My vehicle has been taken to an authorized Honda dealership twice to receive the official recall repair (replacing the FAKRA network connectors). Despite these two repair attempts, the network defect continues to escalate. The vehicle experiences sudden, violent, and near-constant loud popping and clicking noises through the audio speakers while driving. This occurs both at random and predictably when driving over bumps. Following the increase in these network pops, the vehicle's Blu-ray player completely failed and stopped working. Furthermore, the central infotainment screen frequently freezes, reboots, and displays an "Audio Connection Lost" error message, which also cuts out the FM radio tuner entirely.Crucially, this fiber-optic network failure recently caused a total loss of the digital instrument cluster and speedometer while driving. While this complete cluster blackout has only occurred one time so far, it presents an unpredictable and dangerous safety hazard, as I am left with no knowledge of my current speed or critical vehicle safety alerts while in motion. The manufacturer’s standard recall remedy of swapping plastic connector clips is ineffective for my vehicle. The recurring failures after two repairs indicate a permanently compromised factory wiring harness or a damaged network module that is continuously dropping the signal. The manufacturer needs to authorize a thorough diagnostic and full harness/module replacement to permanently resolve this safety defect before the instrument cluster fails again.

Early in a driving session, the accelerator pedal, when applied pressure, will not rev the engine and provide power to the wheels for 1-3 seconds. This issue happens once or twice in a driving session and then doesn't do it again until a future driving session. It is random and doesn't happen every session. This issue causes me to have concerns entering traffic, particularly left turns, as I am unsure if the vehicle will accelerate when needed to safely enter traffic. I have had Service Bulletin 19-124 completed on my vehicle and it did not fix the issue.

- #11757076August 14, 2026LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION, LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST, LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING
Our van recently started flashing multiple warning lights every time we started it up. These include "Collision mitigation system problem", "auto high-beam problem", "road departure mitigation system problem", "lane keeping assist problem", "adaptive cruise control problem", and also alerts that there is an issue with our brakes. We took the van into our local Honda dealership and were told the ADAS camera was broken and would need to be replaced. We were told this would cost $2,733 and that there's a chance we will also have to replace the windshield (which is physically fine) for another $1200. The camera breaking is not normal maintenance or expected due to wear and tear. There is nothing physically wrong with our windshield, we have had no accidents, we have kept up on all needed vehicle maintenance. It's my understanding the location of the camera is simply causing it to overheat and blow out the electrical system. Additionally concerning is that even if I did have the money to fix the issue Honda does not have any cameras available. They are on backorder. It means as a driver to three small children I have to assume the nonstop alerts are all benign for at least a month. In the off chance there is a true safety concern such as brakes malfunctioning, I will not know as the alert system is going off at all times.

while driving at 35 mph a vehicle well ahead of me made a left turn exiting the roadway. My vehicle suddenly applied the brakes even though there was no longer a vehicle in my path. I tried to increase the accelerator, but the vehicle was slow to respond to this. luckily there was not another car directly behind me. This exact problem had occurred many time previously.
