Since I purchased this truck in 2023 brand new as a 2024 the shifting has been very abrasive. It shifts far excessively harder than it should and I have brought this to the dealership’s attention many times. Now I am finding out that there is a massive recall on this vehicle’s transmission because of these issues that have been happening. The error codes are P0700 and P0747 The Engine and Transmission System is not performing as expected. An issue has been detected in the Transmission System that transfers power from the engine to the drive wheels. You may experience reduced power or shifting issues. If the vehicle is continually driven with the check engine light on, the emission controls might not work as well, the vehicle fuel economy might not be as good, and the engine might not run as smoothly. This could lead to future repairs.

The engine (6.2L V8) in my 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 failed at approximately 40,750 miles. I began hearing a ticking noise coming from the engine, and the dealership subsequently diagnosed the cause as damaged bearings that in turn damaged the crankshaft, requiring a full engine replacement. Notably, this vehicle was not included in the related recall covering this engine defect, despite exhibiting the same failure. The original failed engine may be available for inspection upon request but I would need to confirm with the dealership whether it was retained or already returned to GM under warranty. This defect creates a serious safety risk because a damaged crankshaft and bearings can cause the engine to lose power or shut off without warning while driving. An unexpected loss of engine power at highway speed or in traffic could result in loss of vehicle control, reduced ability to accelerate out of a hazard, and increased risk of a collision to myself and to other drivers on the road. The failure gave no advance warning, so there was no opportunity to pull over safely before the issue became apparent. The fact that this failure occurred outside the scope of the existing recall suggests other vehicles with the same defect may be similarly at risk without notice. The dealership diagnosed damaged bearings and a damaged crankshaft as the cause of the ticking noise and performed a full engine replacement under warranty, confirming the failure. The dealership diagnosed the failure and performed the repair; I do not have direct confirmation of whether GM's engineering or warranty division conducted a separate inspection of the failed components beyond the dealer-level diagnosis. No warning lights or messages appeared on the dashboard at any point. The only symptom prior to failure was a ticking sound from the engine which I noticed shortly before the engine required replacement. I was not provided any electronic warning that would have alerted me.

While towing my fifth-wheel trailer, I was descending a hill (I had my tow/haul switch engaged) when I noticed an issue with my vehicle. Upon reaching the bottom of the hill and beginning to decelerate, when applying gas to continue up the hill the vehicle shuddered noticeably. A warning light briefly illuminated on the dashboard and then turned off shortly afterward. Although the warning light went away, the vehicle continued to exhibit a slight vibration, particularly between approximately 25 and 50 mph. I was able to drive the vehicle home safely and subsequently brought it to the dealership for inspection. The dealership performed a diagnostic scan and retrieved fault codes. Based on their findings, they have determined that the transmission requires replacement and are proceeding with that repair. They also found a different fluid in the transmission fluid, they skipped the testing and got permission to change out the transmission

I was driving on the highway when the vehicle started to make clinking noises. The vehicle started to lose power as I accelerated it would feel like something was pulling me in the opposite direction and the knocking noise would get louder. Ultimately, I had the vehicle towed to a dealership. This vehicle passed the L87 recall not too long ago, and the vehicle is barely used.

While driving at highway speed in normal traffic, the upper front grill deflector detached from the vehicle and struck the windshield, cracking the windshield. This appears consistent with the defect that is the subject of Safety Recall N24290120.

2024 GMC Sierra 1500 6.2 v8 had a full engine seizure while driving on the freeway. All prior recall actions had already been met (scoped and upgraded oil), within 60 days of dealership review the engine stopped working. Recall 25V-274 L87 Engine Loss of Propulsion. After a 5 hour event on the side of the road AAA towed the vehicle to the dealership where I was told it would be many months before this is returned. It took many weeks for GM to just review and approve any next service (engine needs). At this point I'm told there are 181 people also in line for an engine and they can't see where I might be in that line. So we wait.

On XXX I started on a 3 hour trip with my daughter in the truck. My vehicle lost power and started knocking in the engine compartment. We were going over a very big Bridge([XXX]) from [XXX] to [XXX]. I had to coast off the highway and made it to a park. Truck would not restart and would not go into neutral. Waited 5 hours for AAA and was drug onto the flat bed truck because it would not go into neutral. It was then towed to the dealership(Union Park GMC) in [XXX], where they had to drag it off the flat bed truck. Truck was evaluated and determined by the technicians that it needed a new engine(6.2 L V8). Engine was tested and passed in October 2025. Still waiting on a new engine to be installed(today is XXX). GMC knows there are issues with these engines failing and continue to sell to the consumer. I am currently paying for a truck that I am not able to drive. "The integrated trailer brake system abruptly fails while towing heavy loads, completely disabling trailer break stopping power and creating an imminent threat of highway crash and serious bodily injury." The sound system inherently stops working and will not produce sound from any device in the truck weather that be Hazards, Blinkers, Radio including AM,FM, Sirus Radio, Bluetooth or Car play as well as OnStar. The truck has been taken to a certified GMC dealer 4 times for these exact issues with also being provided the service bulletin information #N232414840 dated July 16, 2025 stating that the 2024 gmc 2500/3500 HD trucks requiring a new Trailer Break Control Module. This issue has been on going from September 2025 and still an issue as July 16, 2026 and still in the Shop today with a call back stating ready for pick up with the same module but dealer stated re flashed module. I was driving at normal highway speed. I exited the highway and started to deceleration for an upcoming traffic light. The engine started making a lot of noise. The 6.2L engine has 31k miles on it. Oil changes have been completed at the dealership where I purchased the sierra Denali. I called the dealership and the service writer could hear the engine noise. He asked if I could get it to the dealership which was about 15 miles away. I tried but the truck stopped about 7 miles from the dealership. They told me to call the onstar service and get a tow. The dealership said it will take about six weeks to get a new engine. In the meantime I'm making payments on an eighty thousand dollar vehicle I can't use. Someone needs to hold GM accountable for the lack of urgency in getting this problem fixed!

- #11748050July 2, 2026POWER TRAIN, ENGINE, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
The vehicle suffers from a persistent transmission defect including shuttering bucking slipping torque converter failure valve body failure twice metal debris improper down shifting chirping noises and related liability and safety issues. The vehicle has undergone multiple unsuccessful repair attempts at authorise GM dealerships. These repairs include torque converter replacement valve body replacement twice solenoid replacement fluid services software updates. The transmission problems have persisted despite these efforts and the vehicle has been out of service for more than 22 business days including a breakdown driving to Florida. I have filed a claim through GM but it seems like it just keeps getting pushed further and further away this is a serious safety issue as I fear for those driving around me and myself that I may cause an accident with the bucking slipping and failure to operate properly on the road.

This vehicle became subject to a manufacturer safety recall requiring complete engine replacement. The engine failure has been confirmed by an authorized GMC dealer, and the vehicle has remained out of service for more than one month while awaiting the recall remedy. The dealer has advised that the repair has been escalated through GM's SPAC (Service Parts Assistance Center) process because a replacement engine is not available. General Motors has also confirmed there is currently no estimated delivery date or estimated completion date for the repair. As a result, the recall remedy is effectively unavailable, and the vehicle remains unusable for an indefinite period. Although a temporary loaner vehicle has been provided, it is not functionally comparable to the recalled vehicle and does not provide the towing capability and utility required for its intended use. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized GMC dealer, who confirmed that engine replacement under the recall is required. The vehicle remains available for inspection. My concern is not only the original safety defect but also the inability to obtain the recall remedy within a reasonable timeframe. There has been no estimate of when replacement engines will become available, leaving the vehicle out of service indefinitely. I am submitting this complaint to document the delay in completing the safety recall and to request that NHTSA review whether the recall remedy is being provided in a timely and effective manner.

- #11747534June 30, 2026ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ENGINE, STEERING
My 2024 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate 1500 experienced a catastrophic powertrain failure that created a serious safety hazard. On XXX, while driving at highway speeds, the truck unexpectedly shifted into neutral, causing an immediate loss of propulsion. During this event, the electrical system was also affected. The battery power dropped, power steering assistance was lost, and due to the electronic push-button start system, the vehicle could not be restarted while in this condition. This placed me and surrounding motorists at significant risk of a crash. I initially brought the vehicle to Point GMC, where I was advised no issue was found. After the problem continued, I returned on XXX and a dealership technician rode with me. During the test drive on [XXX], the truck again shifted into neutral, confirming the defect. The vehicle was then towed to the dealership, where diagnostics revealed DTC P0016. I was informed the engine had seized and required a complete engine replacement. The engine was replaced by an authorized GMC dealership in New Jersey. After only about 2,000 miles, the check engine light returned and the vehicle began experiencing additional electrical issues. This is a Denali Ultimate, the highest trim level, with advanced electronic systems, making these recurring failures especially concerning. To date, the vehicle has been inspected by three authorized GMC dealerships, and I have opened multiple cases with GMC Corporate. Despite repeated repair attempts, the manufacturer has not provided a permanent resolution. I continue to experience recurring engine and electrical issues and no longer have confidence in the safety or reliability of this vehicle. Given the repeated failures, loss of propulsion, loss of steering assistance, inability to restart the vehicle, and lack of resolution after multiple dealership visits and an engine replacement, I believe this matter warrants investigation by NHTSA. The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 equipped with Maxxis Tires, Tire Line: Bravo HT-750, Tire Size: 255/80/R17, DOT Number: 120NK10015028. The contact stated that after the front driver 's-side tire became flat, the contact discovered that the spare tire originally equipped on the vehicle failed to fit the front wheels but did fit the rear wheels. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who determined that the spare tire failed to fit the front driver's side wheel due to a factory-installed brake modification, causing the spare to not fit over the front brakes. The dealer replaced the front driver's side tire. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The tire failure mileage was unknown. The vehicle failure mileage was 14,000.

This vehicles top portion of grill trim is starting to come loose, as this is a safety concern while on the highway, I had another vehicle that the trim flew off completely, (same year and model) while i was on the highway. This could hit another vehicle if this happens, or god forbid a person who happens to be on a sidewalk. I looked into this and found that there is a recall for the same issue on 2022 models that has not been extended to the 2024 model (Recall N242490120). This recall should be extended to the 2024 models as this is a huge safety concern.

Upon driving on the highway, I was doing about 73mph, something back flew up and smacked the windshield then the car behind me ran over that piece. After stopping and looking I realized the top trim to the grill flew off. There is no recall for this even though this is a safety concern. If I was near a sidewalk to a motorcycle behind me this could have injured someone severely. Upon research I found that there is a recall for the 2022 model for the same problem (Recall N242490120), this needs to be extended tot he 2024 model as I have another truck (same year and model) that is showing signs of the same issue. This is a huge safety concern.
