Received notice in March 2021 of defective passenger side air bag inflator which, due to environmental related degradation can explode during deployment sending metal fragments through the air bag into the vehicle risking serious injury or death. Notice further states parts are not currently available to repair the defect. No notice was received as of 9/15/21, and in checking on NHTSA and GM websites on this topic, there is no indication of when or if it will ever be repaired. This complaint is initiated to get specific information how long a passenger in my vehicle is at risk of serious injury or death from this defective air bag inflator.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
While driving carrying a full load in the back of the truck, the engine began to lose power, started running rough and then died without any warning within a matter of seconds. No indicator light or warnings were displayed. We were traveling in the number one lane during heavy traffic and had difficulty trying to stop with no power nearly causing an accident. We were left stranded in the fast lane of a large intersection during heavy traffic causing a large traffic jam. The vehicle was towed to a mechanic who found metal shavings throughout the fuel system indicating the high pressure fuel pump had disintegrated internally causing the metal shavings. I have asked the parts be saved for further inspection if necessary. The mechanic stated this type incident has occurred and is a well documented and known deficiency for this make and model of truck.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 GMC SIERRA 2500. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH SEVERAL UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE RESIDENCE. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WENT TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER AGREED TO PAY 20% OF THE REPAIR COST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 106,000.

MY GMC SIERRA 1500 HAS NUMEROUS CRACKS ACROSS THE UPPER DASH THAT HAVE APPEARED OVER THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. I ATTEMPTED TO HAVE THE DASHBOARD REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY BUT WAS DENIED. I RECENTLY HAD THE PASSENGER AIRBAG REPLACED DUE TO A RECALL. THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO REPLACE THE DASHBOARD, AND WHEN THEY REPLACED THE ORIGINAL CRACKED DASHBOARD, MANY OF THE CRACKED PIECES DID NOT LINE UP, LEAVING THE DASH LOOKING FURTHER DAMAGED. PLEASE FORCE GMC TO OFFER A RECALL OF THE SUBSTANDARD DASHBOARD, OR REPLACE THE DASHBOARD DURING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE AIRBAG.

I PURCHASED A VEHICLE THAT WAS ADVERTISED AS HAVING 52000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. I LOOKED AT THE VEHICLE AND ENDED UP PURCHASING THE VEHICLE FOR 24,500. THE VEHICLE WAS AS IT APPEARED AS ADVERTISED. THE SELLER PROVIDED A COPY OF A CARFAX REPORT WHICH SHOWED THE VEHICLE HAD 52000 MILES ON IT WITH NO DAMAGE REPORTED, HOWEVER I WAS UNABLE TO RUN MY OWN CARFAX AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE DUE LACK OF INTERNET ACCESS. LATER ON AFTER THE PURCHASE I WAS ABLE TO LOOK UP MY OWN CARFAX AND IT SHOWED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD 314,635 MILES AS THE LAST ODOMETER READING AS WELL AS MODERATE DAMAGE REPORTED. I CHECKED ON AUTOCHECK AS WELL AND THE SAME MILES APPEARED BUT DAMAGE WAS NOT REPORTED IN THIS INSTANCE. I VIEWED THE PINK SLIP AT THE TIME AS WELL AND IT APPEARED TO BE LEGITIMATE BUT AFTER CLOSER VIEWING WHERE THE LAST ODOMETER READING WAS WRITTEN IT LOOKED AS IF HE HAD FORGED THE NUMBERS AND CHANGED THEM. I AM UNSURE AS TO WHAT TO DO AT THIS POINT. I DO NOT KNOW HOW MILES ARE ON THE VEHICLE AND I DON'T KNOW IF THERE'S ANYTHING ELSE WRONG OR FRAUDULENT REGARDING THIS. IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED IF I HAD SOMEONE HELP ME OUT. THANK YOU.

A CRACK SUDDENLY APPEARED AT THE CORNER OF MY DASHBOARD AND THE DASHBOARD AIR BAG COVER THAT OPENS WHEN DEPLOYED. I HAVE PARKED MY GMC IN THE GARAGE EVERY DAY SINCE I BROUGHT IT HOME FROM THE DEALER. I USE A WINDSHIELD REFLECTOR WHEN PARKED OUTSIDE AT THE MARKET ECT... I HAVE READ ON LINE THAT THERE IS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THIS HAPPENING TO OWNERS OF LIKE GMC'S AND YEAR MINE IS A 2013 SIERRA 1500. IT APPEARED SUDDENLY FOR NO REASON. I FEEL IT CAN AFFECT THE AIR BAGS ABILITY TO DEPLOY CORRECTLY AFFECTING MINE OR MY FAMILY'S SAFETY IF IN AN ACCIDENT. I WOULD THINK GM SHOULD REPAIR THIS ISSUE AT NO CHARGE TO ME, IT'S A MANUFACTURE DEFECT.
