2015-2018 Edge, Fusion, Focus, MKZ, MKC, Escape vehicles equipped with a 2.0L EcoBoost engine may exhibit coolant consumption, white smoke and/or a runs rough condition. Refer to the extended coolant pressure test and checking for combustion gases in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-03A. If internal coolant loss is confirmed, further investigation of the head gasket interface is required. Carefully inspect the cylinder block and head for erosion, pitting, and flatness defects, primarily between the cylinder to cylinder bore bridges. If defects to the aluminum surface on the cylinder block and/or cylinder head are found, follow the cost cap tool for component replacement. Follow WSM, Section 303-01A for the repair procedures

If an update is available refer to WSM, Section 415-00 and update the APIM software. After Installation, complete pop-up appears, remove USB flash drive and install into IDS tool to update Ford database. Perform a complete ignition cycle by turning the key off for 5 minutes which is critical for a successful installation. If no updates are available or a blue or black screen is present after an update refer to WSM, Section 415-00 for diagnosis or SYNC 3 intermittent blank screen GSB for tips. For claiming, use causal part 14G371 and applicable labor operations in section 10 of the SLTS manual.

Some 2016-2018 Escape/Focus/Transit Connect vehicles equipped with a remote start system may exhibit an immediate engine shut off with or without diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P1594 stored in the BCM after using the remote start function to start the engine. If using FordPass, the app will indicate that the vehicle started successfully, but the engine may not have started or may start and then immediately shut off. Reprogram the BCM using the appropriate Ford scan tool or equivalent release 110.02 or higher. Make sure you are connected to the internet when entering module programming to obtain the latest updates. For claiming, use causal part 14A068 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

Various 2016-2018 vehicles with SYNC 3 may experience a touch screen that does not respond to any input. Using the Professional Technician Society (PTS) website > OASIS tab > SYNC version, verify the vehicle SYNC software version. If the vehicle is at version 2.2 please update the module to the latest software level. After the software is updated make sure you shut the vehicle off, open the door for 2 minutes, then turn the key back on before testing the touch screen. If the software is at a later version than 2.2, proceed with normal diagnostics in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 415-00. For claiming, use causal part 14G371 and applicable labor operations in section 10 of the Service Labor Times Standards (SLTS) manual.

Some 2017-2018 Escape/Focus/Transit Connect vehicles equipped with remote start may exhibit the engine shut off after using the remote start function to start the vehicle with DTC P1594 stored in the BCM. If using the FordPass app, the app will tell the customer that the vehicle started successfully, but the customer observes that the vehicle did not start or started then shut off. Do not attempt any repairs at this time. Engineering is investigating, monitor OASIS for updates.

Some 2016-2018 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with SYNC 3 and connected to an iPhone recently upgraded to iOS 11.2.5 may exhibit functional concerns where USB audio playback and App Link will not operate. This may also include, under certain conditions, no Bluetooth streaming. Apple has released iOS 11.2.6 to address this concern. Advise the customer to update the device to iOS 11.2.6 and re-evaluate before performing any diagnosis or repairs for this condition. To check the iOS software level on an Apple iOS device, select Settings > General > About on the device.

Some vehicles may exhibit an illuminated MIL with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0011, P0012, P0014, P0015, P0016, P0017, P0018, P0019, P0021, P0022, P0024 and/or P0025. This may be due to small debris causing the VCT solenoid to stick. Before attempting any component diagnosis or replacement of the VCT solenoid, refer to Powertrain Control and Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) pinpoint test HK11 to cycle the affected VCT solenoid 10 times to attempt to clear the debris. Some 2012-2018 Focus Electric, 2013-2017 C-Max Energi, and 2013-2018 Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) may exhibit the high voltage (HV) battery failing to charge while connected to the Delphi 120 volt electric vehicle service equipment (EVSE) charge cord. To identify a Delphi EVSE the coupler on the EVSE that connects to the vehicle charge port is solid black. For information on the Delphi EVSE indicator status used for diagnostics, reference High Voltage Battery > Charging the High Voltage Battery in the Owners Guide for a 2018 Fusion Energi. Reference the Convenience Cord Light Emitting Diode (LED) Indicators chart. The Workshop Manual (WSM) is scheduled to be revised at a later date.

Some 2018 Focus vehicles may exhibit an inoperative and/or intermittent horn operation. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 413-06 for diagnosis. If testing leads to horn replacement, inspect connector C131 for corrosion and repair as necessary, using replacement pigtail 3U2Z-14S411-BXAB or Motorcraft WPT-984. Using Rotunda Technician Tool program (RTTP) NUD105-R025E Flex probe kit or equivalent, verify pin drag on the C131 harness connector terminals. If no corrosion is present, reconnect connector C131 a couple of times and add Motorcraft electrical grease XG-12 or equivalent meeting specification WSB-M1C239-A to both terminals. For claiming, use causal part 13832 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

Summary
Some 2016-2018 Focus RS vehicles may exhibit paint discoloration once the protective wrap guard is removed. It is recommended the wrap stay in place until vehicle is delivered, but no longer than 6 months past the vehicle build date. Longer time on the vehicle will increase the adhesive residue left on the paint surface. To assist with the wrap removal, vehicle surface temperature no less than -10Å?C (14Å?F) and no more than 50Å?C (122Å?F), with no ice/snow. Begin the removal from an edge and pull the film back upon itself to the middle of the panel, then repeat from the opposite side until the film is completely removed. The steep pull off angle and the speed of wrap removal affects the amount of adhesive residue remaining. Potential paint blemishes will typically disappear within 72 hours of removal of the wrap under normal circumstances.

The EV Range after fully charging a Focus Electric, C-MAX/Fusion Energi may vary after each charge event. The window sticker indicates 0-20 mile range for C-MAX Energi, 0-21 mile range for Fusion Energi. Variation of EV range may not indicate a battery or charging concern. EV range is similar to the DTE display on gasoline vehicles, EV range will vary with driving/operating conditions. Conditions include: extreme outside temperatures, terrain, driving style, city or highway driving, tire pressure, and use of accessories. If the customer replaces the low roll resistance tires with a more aggressive tread the range will suffer. Using the cabin heater and A/C, which are electric, will also decrease EV range. To temporarily remove the impact of driving/climate history , reset the Driving History/Lifetime Summary by using the Settings menu on the left side of the instrument cluster, under Display

Some 2016-2018 Model Year Focus RS may exhibit inaccurate Outside Air Temperature(OAT) readings with intermittent Air Conditioning(A/C) function. Instrument cluster will display 0 degrees F(-18 degrees C) until the vehicle is driven above 20-30 mph for minimum of 1 minute. Concern can occur when engine is running(Key On Engine Running-KOER) and ignition is cycled Off and On again within 1 second. Do not replace Powertrain Control Module(PCM) or ambient air temperature sensor for concern. Sensor is contained within the right hand outside mirror, and is not serviceable separately . Engineering is currently investigating. To assist with the investigation use Report A Vehicle Concern link at the bottom of the Oasis report and submit a Global Concern Report (GCR). Continue to monitor OASIS for future updates.

Summary
The EV Range after fully charging a Focus Electric, C-MAX/Fusion Energi may vary after each charge event. The window sticker indicates 0-20 mile range for C-MAX Energi, 0-21 mile range for Fusion Energi. Variation of EV range may not indicate a battery or charging concern. EV range is similar to the DTE display on gasoline vehicles, EV range will vary with driving/operating conditions. Conditions include: extreme outside temperatures, terrain, driving style, city or highway driving, tire pressure, and use of accessories. If the customer replaces the low roll resistance tires with a more aggressive tread the range will suffer. Using the cabin heater and A/C, which are electric, will also decrease EV range. To temporarily remove the impact of driving/climate history , reset the Driving History/Lifetime Summary by using the Settings menu on the left side of the instrument cluster, under Display
