Technician may find a Diagnostic Trouble Code P0300 set. If Service Information diagnosis does not isolate the cause of this concern inspect the valve operation. If the valve or valves are not moving the replace the Active Fuel Management lifters and guide on the bank with the concern and the Valve Lifter Oil Assembly.

  15083 - SERVICE UPDATE. THIS BULLETIN PROVIDES A SERVICE PROCEDURE TO INSTALL AN ENGINE VALVE STEM OIL SEAL ON CERTAIN VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 5.3L ENGINE (RPO L83). THESE VEHICLES WERE INADVERTENTLY BUILT WITHOUT AN ENGINE VALVE STEM OIL SEAL. THE EFFECT OF THE CONDITION IS THAT ENGINE OIL MAY SEEP INTO THE CYLINDER AND RESULT IN PRE-MATURE ENGINE WEAR. IF UNCORRECTED THE CONDITION OVER TIME COULD LEAD TO NON-COMPLIANCE TO EMISSIONS STANDARDS.

  This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about the Media Oriented Systems Transport Bus Diagnostic Tool Kit (EL-51578) has been released to help diagnose any of the Media Oriented Systems Transport bus concerns. The kit contains header connectors that are installed to bypass Media Oriented Systems Transport bus modules. The bypass connector also contains a terminal for verifying Media Oriented Systems Transport control circuit voltages. Technician should review Media Oriented Systems Transport bus description and operation and Diagnostic Trouble Code U0028 diagnostic procedures.
