This is a Technical Journal: A whining or rattling sound may appear when revving up the engine. ( see attached sample files ). The sound may come from the balance shaft which is fitted in the oil sump area where the noise is most concentrated. A new design of the balance shaft is planned to be introduced 2018-Q2. Replace the balance shaft according the instructions in VIDA. Note: It's extremely important to adjust the new balance shaft with the correct tools according the instructions otherwise the sound may occur again in a short mileage.

Volvo Car USA LLC and Volvo Car of Canada Ltd (Volvo) on behalf of Volvo Car Corporation, has decided to launch Service Action S29843 on certain model year 2017 - 2018 XC90, V90, and model year 2018 XC60 vehicles equipped with the T8 engine. Volvo has identified that the fuel tank filler pipe insert was manufactured out of specification. This could result in malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) illuminated and a Driver Information Module (DIM) message ?check engine.? This is a Parts Bulletin. The corrective action is replacement of the filler pipe insert per the VIDA instructions located per the VIDA path below. Information ? Repair ?
