SummaryInformation: This document updates information previously published in EQ 1105, EQ 1105, and EQ 1401. To provide stable voltage and sufficient current throughout certain service operations, you should connect the vehicle to a battery charger (sometimes referred to as a power supply). However, you may experience ECU programming and coding issues if the chosen battery charger has insufficient power. Many workshop manuals currently advise use of a battery charger with a 40 or 70 A current rating. However, with the increasing current requirements of modern Porsche vehicles, we recommend a battery charger capable of producing a minimum current of 90 A.

SummaryTechnical Concern: By design, the vehicle gateway allows certain vehicle features to time-out, in stages. This allows the vehicle to sleep. One feature that can time-out is the 12 V DC power point (cigarette lighter) in the center console area. One of the recommended methods of using the battery maintainer is to plug the battery maintainer into this power point. If this power point becomes disabled, it will not allow current flow from the battery maintainer to the vehicle, the vehicle battery will not trickle charge, and the battery maintainer will eventually shut off.

SummaryConcerns: Control unit for Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) Information: This is to inform you of a voluntary Workshop Campaign on the above-mentioned vehicles. Due to a software error in the control unit for Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), there is a possibility that an unauthorized fault code will be stored in the control unit under certain ambient conditions. This can cause the error message "PDCC failure" to be displayed in the instrument cluster and the PDCC function will no longer be available.

SummaryThe vacuum line can slip off the control box as a result of component tolerances of the clamp. In the event of a customer complaint, check that the vacuum line is fitted securely on the control box at the left and right. ? If the vacuum line is fitted securely on the control box, the fault is not related to the cause described here. Find the cause of the fault and correct it. Invoice for Scope 1. ? If the vacuum line has slipped off the control box, the electric change-over valve can be contaminated by drawing in dirt. Replace electric change-over valve, blow out any dirt in the vacuum line using compressed air and secure the vacuum line to the control box using a new clamp.

SummaryThis campaign includes steps where control unit(s) in the vehicle will be programmed with the PIWIS Tester. The vehicle voltage must be maintained between 13.5 volts and 14.5 volts during this programming. Failure to maintain this voltage could result in damaged control unit(s). Damage caused by inadequate voltage during programming is not a warrantable defect. The technician must verify the actual vehicle voltage in the PIWIS Tester before starting the campaign and also document the actual voltage on the repair order. Please refer to Equipment Information EQ1401 for a list of suitable battery chargers/power supplies which should be used to maintain vehicle voltage. Due to a software error in the gateway control unit, the optional lightweight battery (lithium-ion battery) - if installed in the vehicle - will not charge using the Porsche Charge-o-mat Pro charger when this is used via the cigarette lighter or 12-volt plug socket in the vehicle. As a result, the lightweight battery can go flat if the vehicle is parked up for a long time. The charging function works, however, if the charger is connected directly to the vehicle battery using the optional clamp adapter.

Summary"OBSERVATIONS HAVE SHOWN THAT THE CHASSIS STILL SHOWS A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF SETTLING BEHAVIOR WITHIN THE FIRST 3,700 MILES (6,000 KM). DURING PERFORMANCE-ORIENTED DRIVING ON A RACE TRACK PARTICULARLY IF THE VEHICLE IS FREQUENTLY DRIVEN AT ITS PERFORMANCE LIMITS COMBINED WITH CHASSIS SETUP TOLERANCES, THIS CAN QUICKLY CAUSE THE WHEELS TO COME INTO CONTACT WITH PERIPHERAL COMPONENTS."
