The front upper grille deflector detached and hit my windshield and bounced off behind me during a drive at normal highway speeds. This created a random flying debris object that appears to have been a problem with the 2022 and later Sierra 1500 models; however, the recall only appears to address the 2022 model. It also appears quite common for the 2024 year model as well. Vehicle has never been in an accident so nothing beyond typical use would have caused damaged to the connections. The plastic connectors appeared to have failed.

Intermittent trailer disconnect and loss of electric trailer brake output while towing Airstream. The truck is connected to the trailer through the seven Way plug. There are no modifications to the truck. This is a safety hazard as I pull a 9000+ lb trailer. Trailer connection drops momentarily and integrated trailer brake controller loses communication with trailer brakes. I went on a 5000 mile trip and my trailer brakes were connecting in disconnecting consistently. Every time there was a disconnection or connection the vehicle would “ding ding. This virtually happened consistently while we were on this long trip. During the trip, we tried to wedge the plug tight and zip tie the door shut, attempting to keep the plug tight. My truck is at the dealership, waiting on a “tool“. This is the second time it has been in the shop for this issue. I supplied a picture of the dash message after it got tired of connecting and disconnecting. I feel this is a serious safety issue. Traveling Northbound in the left lane on [XXX] approximately 1 mile prior to the [XXX] exit. I increased my speed to move to the right lane and exit. After moving the the right lane and signaling to exit the highway a notification appeared on the gauge cluster stating to shift to neutral and restart the engine. After coming to a complete stop at the stop light I attempted to restart and nothing happened. I contacted OnStar for roadside assistance to get my truck and trailer towed and was informed they do not cover towing of the trailer. I accepted the tow of the truck and contacted the towing company who charged me $300 to tow my trailer 15 miles home. This happened late morning on Saturday and by Monday evening I was informed my engine seized and GM will be covering a replacement under warranty. My truck is less than two years old with 23K miles. The 6.2L engine was inspected a couple months earlier for the engine recall and was deemed ok. Clearly the inspection process is not very robust. I was told I could be without my truck for 1wk, 2wks, a month, but they are not sure since I’m 4th in line for a new engine and the truck first in line has already been there a month. I was also told GM is showing inventory in Michigan but the engines are not shipping. I’m currently waiting on a loaner vehicle but was told I cannot tow with the loaner vehicle which throws a wrench in my plans. I was driving and noticed a very strong smell of an electrical fire. The truck popped up a High Voltage Battery warning and several warning lights came on. We stopped, restarted the truck and the lights came on again, the smell returned as soon as we started driving. We drove the truck to Cable Dahmer GMC in Kansas City, MO. Service advisor Kracinda asked us to exit the vehicle as quickly as possible as it needed to be moved away from the building ASAP. It was parked several blocks from the building in a col de sac away from all vehicles. The electrical fire smell was very strong. The manufacturer is now saying that a software update is all that is required.

I passed the recall inspection on 12/17/2025 and the higher viscosity oil was put into my vehicle. On 12/25/2025 my vehicle's engine shut off while I was traveling on the highway (I-25). The vehicle went into to neutral and I had to pull over to the side of the highway without power. The vehicle started again and as I was merging onto the highway it shut down again. The truck started again and I was able to drive it home. There were no codes found when I took it in for service on 12/26/2025. On 01/24/2026 I was driving on the highway (US-40) and I had complete engine failure. I had to get my vehicle towed to the service center and a new motor was installed. On March 27th the vehicle's engine shut off again while driving on the highway (US-191). There were no codes or check engine lights on this time either. The service records state that the starter mount stud was loose.

GM 6.2L L87 was recalled. I took the truck in at 32,000 miles. GM dealer perfromed a Pico Test, motor failed. Motor replaced with "NEW" crate motor. I was without a truck or loaner for 3 weeks. Dealer called me when new motor was almost complete. First they said it would be a couple more days because they started the "NEW" motor and it had no oil pressure. They contacted GM Tec and they tested it again, it tested with too-high of oil pressure. GM then instructed them to replace the oil pump on the "NEW" Motor. I got the truck back a week later after being in the shop 3 weeks. I drove a total of 1,200 miles, 400 miles we're highway in one long trip. The balance was local. I went to start the truck one morning after it sat all weekend and the "NEW" motor was knocking like an old diesel. I video'ed it and sent to my service advisior, I was advised to bring it back again. Vehicle has been at dealer now 9 days, dealer took oil sample from "NEW" motor, it was found to have metallic matter in the oil. They contacted GM Tec again, it took GM Tec 3 days to respond, Last Friday GM Tec said pull the oil pan and take pictures. As of the typing of this email I have no loaner because there's a wait list for loaners, GM will only reimburse me $25/day for a rental and a truck rental is $105/day which I refuse to pay for GM's defects out of my pocket.

The control arm bearing appears to have failed without warning causing loss of steering control. This occurred at low speed on a street in [XXX] last night near a gas station, so the driver was able to drive to a safe location easily without risk to life. Had the failure happened at speed a possibly fatal collision would have been likely. The vehicle has been used for the past 8 months to drive to work and has not been subject to any stress. It has not been modified. The tow truck driver said he has seen a number of other control arm failures recently, not necessarily in the same vehicle type. It may be due to bad pot holes this year in [XXX] , they are bigger and deeper than normal. This information is based on assessment by tow truck driver last night. Vehicle is at Jim Shorkey in Murrysville for repairs INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I purchased a 2024 GMC SIERRA 1500 Denali Crew Cab Diesel 3.0L After several times bringing the truck to the dealership I purchased from and conduct all service related work. They finally found a crack/whole in the sidewall that was not done by any road hazard to cause damage but looks like a manufacturer defect. This is now not only prominent on one tire but two of the tires. The area is on the covex area of the tire. BRIDGESTONE ALENZA A/S 02 Size 275/50/R22 This is a huge safety concern as a blowout at 65MPH could cause significant harm to not only people in my vehicle but to others. This is an advisement to get the right attention on this before something catastrophic or deadly. With plenty of tread on the tires (6/32), which equated to 50% life on the tire. The dealership is trying to make me pay for a manufacturer defect of $600+ for the two tires.

October 24, 2025 I had taken in my vehicle for recall 25V274 Loss of motor power. Mine was deemed unaffected and given the oil change they were doing as part of that. Today it died while I was pulling a trailer with a RZR on it. I had drove about 90 miles with a stop midway when I did have the engine turned off. Then it just quit. My vehicle only has 13k miles on it. Not sure if police report was filed but they were called and there directing traffic because it stopped in a busy intersection. I had to be towed, and pay a separate fee to have the trailer towed. At 1000 miles on the truck it had to be taken in for an infotainment screen replacement.

driving normally → brief stumble/sputter/deceleration → engine died/no power → check-engine light → vehicle coasts with no throttle response → would not restart, then restarted briefly with rough idle and immediately died. Reproduced. Towed. Dealer has not yet seen the vehicle. Inspection. No. Notification. Check engine light illuminated, truck automatically went into neutral. Safety. We were driving in traffic when problems occurred.

Driving back to camper in the late evening and was listening to music and gps was on the screen when I was going approximately 32mph when headliner airbags on both sides went off causing me to hit my brakes and veer into the ditch. I was able to maintain pretty good control but did hit either a rock or stick or something that punctured my wheel sidewall. Unsure if a tree limb then got caught and tore off my bedcover that then left a small dent on the c column on the passenger side. I was able to put my truck in 4wd to get back fully into the roadway and walk about to see potential damage. At that time I only saw my tire was loosing air and bedcover was off aside from the airbag deployment. I slowly made my way home to assess further during complete daylight. I was not injured other than a cut on the hand due to the bedcover and a headache from the deployment. No hard hit or collision and truck did not make contact with tree trunk or any front end damage that would ordinarily come from someone going into the ditch. Reached out to a shop to have them check it out and see if they can see any reason why those airbags would have deployed without force then causing an incident

I was driving and lost engine power in the left lane of a freeway, cut across traffic and coasted to the shoulder. Had truck 6' off of road, though with semis and cars passing at 70mph, I left and waited in the ditch for the tow truck. The electronics worked, but the engine was dead and would not start. When the tow truck arrived, the wheels were locked up and they used rollers to haul the truck to the dealership. After the dealer inspected the truck, they sent a message saying they could not turn the engine over by hand. The engine had metal shavings in the oil filter and after removing a valve cover, found metal contamination circulated throughout the engine. The engine, radiator, oil cooler lone, and battery junction box all require replacement. This truck has a 6.2L L87 engine, and the dealer has had several other vehicles with the same blown engine failure. The truck was in for the recall on this issue about a month before the engine went out, they placed a pico scope in the engine to check the drive shaft, and then added a heavier oil. No warning lights came on until the engine died.
