Hi, I was driving on [XXX] and my radio volume went to full volume 100% by itself. The radio would not shut off and none of the controls would work, everything froze. I kept turning the volume button down and the volume bar on the screen showed that it was trying to minimize, but it wouldn't stay. It kept going to full volume. Finally, after I kept pushing the off and mute buttons, the radio shut off and was unresponsive. When I reached my destination and shut the truck off and restarted it, the radio then worked as it normally should. This happened to me yesterday, and I'm still having trouble hearing and my ears hurt. I researched this online and found that there are many other people that had this same scenario with their sierra. I wanted to reach out and report this. Thank you [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Coolant control valve failure (P1098) after 50k service. When this engine code appears the vehicle goes into reduced power mode. While it does this at inopportune time and creates potential for colission with other vehicles such as when merging with traffic. The coolant control valve is a known issue and GM has just recently recalssified it from their powertrain warranty to their much shorter bumper to bumper or emissions warranty without notifity owners of this change. This move directly puts owners and drivers at risk while on the road. GM should be accountable to resolve this problem as failures are across multiples years and are happening to vehicles at all milages with some less than 5k miles. This is an obvious failure on their part and they should be required to rectify the situation.

The front chrome grill on my Sierra 1500 SLT has begun to detach, and there is currently a recall for this specific component on my vehicle. I took my truck to GMC Covert Bee Cave to get this recall and 1 other recall fixed, but GM does not have a remedy for grill. Not only does this pose a safety risk to myself, but I use my truck as a source of income by renting it out on Turo, and Turo has unlisted my truck from the app indefinitely or until this remedy is resolved. The paperwork I received from the dealership confirms GM has no remedy for the recall, and they sent me on my way without even offering a replacement vehicle. My truck is available for inspecting if you would like to see it. My safety and others safety is at risk if this recall does not receive a remedy or if GM does not give me a replacement vehicle in the meantime. No warning lights or any other systems can notify me if the grill is going to detach all the way, and I will not be able to have this source of income from Turo without the ability to have my truck relisted.

On 1 February 2025; I was stuck in the mud, in my pickup. As I was attempting to get out, my truck died. After several attempts to restart my truck; I was towed to my lake camp. Which located less than 100 yards away. Since it was no longer had a current warranty I contacted a mechanic. He arrived the following day and discovered that the engine was “locked up”. I had it towed to his shop, and he began to diagnose the engine. He has determined that the crankshaft is broken and 2 rod bearing are spun. He is currently checking for piston borehole damage. If no other damages are found, he will ordered repair parts and repair my engine.

While traveling from Florida back to Louisiana on [XXX], I stopped at a store when I came back out the vehicle would not start. I ended up having the battery boosted by a gentleman and then returned to my drive home. I drove from Quincy, Florida where the truck wouldn’t start to the [XXX] exit in Louisiana. I made 2 other stops but left the vehicle idling at both stops. At the [XXX] exit, I left the vehicle idling while I went inside and the vehicle quit running on its own. After many unsuccessful attempts, I couldn’t get the vehicle started again. I replaced the battery with no luck. Since it was Sunday night, I was unable to get the vehicle towed so I left the vehicle at the gas station and got a ride back to Baton Rouge so I could borrow a vehicle to get back to Winnfield, LA for work the following morning. My parents went the next morning ([XXX]) and had the mega switch replaced and the truck started right up. My mother then drove the vehicle to Baton Rouge, when she stopped at a traffic light, the truck quit again and she called OnStar to have it towed to Gerry Lane GMC. On [XXX], I received a call from Scott at Gerry Lane stating the vehicle had a lower engine knock and the truck needed a new engine. After multiple phone calls and my parents going to the dealership, mg parents were finally told the oil filter was filled with metal. None of that information was given in the phone call to me. I was simply told it needed a new engine with no explanation of how we got from a truck that wouldn’t start to needing a new engine. After waiting an extended time frame for them to locate an engine, I was finally able to pickup my truck on [XXX]. The GM N242454440 “collision Rear Wheel Lock Up from Transmission Valve Failure” was performed. The recall rendered the electrical charging system inoperable. GM engineering has been working on the vehicle for more than one month and recently determined that the recall software does not work properly with all vehicles. My truck is being returned to me without the recall being performed. Accordingly the safety hazard associated with rear wheel lockup has not been addressed and cannot be addressed at this time. Presumably GM will develop software in the future to address the safety condition. Meanwhile the safety hazard remains unaddressed for my vehicle and an unknown number others. At approximately 18,000 miles the engine on my brand new GMC seized up while I was taking 4 of my employees Downtown Detroit. The engine stopped as I was merging into 3 lanes of traffic from the left lane. I had to cross 3 lanes during rush hour almost resulting in a major accident. Then I had to wait 2 months to replace the engine. 25,000 miles later, the second engine seized up while I was transporting my father between nursing home facilities. The third engine, I have recently been told only has a 12,000 mile warranty. I have requested that GM give me a 60,000 mile warranty on this 3rd engine and they refuse as it is past 30 days since the 3rd engine was installed. I should be getting a new truck, but I am just asking for a warranty. This is a known problem, which obviously has not been fixed. In both instances, there were no indications of a problem until the engine stopped running. The first time, I had 4 of my employees, which I was responsible for, in my car merging in the left lane with no engine power during rush hour, putting everyone at great risk, including other cars and people. The 2nd time, I had my [XXX] father in transit between nursing home facilities. This obviously was a very stressful event for both of us. Both of the dealerships that replaced the engines confirmed that they have been seeing this same issue in many other GM trucks. I personally know of 3 people that this has happened to. In both cases, I had to wait weeks to replace the engine because of the backlog to order the engine for other people. Radio software glitch (bulletin 23-NA-183) cuts blower fan speed to 50% or below resulting in ineffective defrost during winter months. GM knows of the issue and has a radio software update but will not complete this as warranty and/or recall and will demand you pay for the correction. Due to the uncontrolled and loss of power to fan that cannot be corrected by the owner (ex. turning radio off/on will not fix it) this has become a serious safety concern as the windshield can fog, frost, or freeze while driving the vehicle.
