ENGINE
Engine misfire, bringing vehicle to low speed. Safety was a main concern, while I was on a highway and could not maintain a flowable speed with other vehicles. The problem was confirmed by the dealer on 4/25/25 milage 77681, repaired. Then happen again on 5/9/15 milage 79091, repaired and confirmed again by a different dealer. There were no pre-warnings, once it happen all warnings went on.

ENGINE
Coolant bypass valve went out. The safety was questionable as the truck reduced speed rapidly makes the cars behind at risk. The problem is constant because my truck is not the only one in the shop for it. Only the dealership has inspected the truck. I bought my truck used so not sure if it appeared before I bought it but I only had my truck a week before it was in the shop. Waning lights came on and would only go off with a code reader/clearer.

Engine failed. We had just passed a semi truck when the engine lost all power. Problem was confirmed by Hart Motors (the delearship the pickup was purchased from). Vehicle was inspected by the dealership. No warnig lights or any symptoms pior to the engine failing.

The chrome front grill deflector is loose and feels like it is going to fly off at any moment. There have not been any accident or collision with the vehicle for this to be my fault. I know all the 2022 GMC Sierras got recalled for this issue but dealership said my vehicle isn’t covered even though is the same issue

Subject: Urgent Safety Concern – Widespread Failure and Nationwide Backorder of OnStar Module (GM Part No. 86803964) Dear NHTSA, I am writing to formally raise a serious concern regarding a widespread and well-documented failure of the OnStar module (GM Part No. 86803964) in 2023 GMC Sierra vehicles and potentially other GM models. I own a 2023 GMC Sierra equipped with this module, which has failed, rendering my vehicle’s entire instrument cluster completely inoperative. All screens, including the digital gauges and essential driver information displays, are blacked out, leaving the vehicle in an unsafe and non-drivable condition. After contacting numerous GM dealerships across the country, I have discovered that this part is on national backorder, with over 4,000 units reportedly pending. I have also learned that the part number has been superseded multiple times, suggesting an ongoing and unresolved issue. To make matters worse, Specmo is reported to be the sole refurbisher and distributor of replacement modules, further limiting availability and delaying resolution. This issue directly affects vehicle operability and driver safety. The inability to access critical information such as speed, fuel level, warning indicators, and system diagnostics significantly increases the risk of accidents and vehicle malfunctions. Given the scale of this issue and its impact on public safety, I urge General Motors, relevant regulatory bodies, and consumer safety agencies to investigate this matter thoroughly. A recall, expedited solution, or broader communication to affected customers appears necessary at this stage.

POWER TRAIN, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
My truck has the shift to park issue and won’t allow me to shut the vehicle ignition off and I cannot shut the vehicle ignition off and it is unsafe and keeps me trapped in my vehicle. I have noticed that it is a common issue and recall on many gmc trucks and I took it to the dealership and they are not wanting to cover it with my two warranties I have on the truck and my vehicle is unsafe. I cannot park the vehicle and shut it off. When I go to put the truck in park on shift column lever, it says shift to park on dash and I turn it on and move shifter to drive and neutral and the vehicle still won’t allow me to shut it off and it shows the same issue.. the issue just began out of no where.

The contact owns a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while driving at speeds of 70-75 MPH or faster, the vehicle failed to accelerate or downshift without warning. The RPM increased; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate. The vehicle hesitated and jerked while changing gear. The dealer was contacted and diagnosed that there was metal in the oil which could cause engine failure. The dealer had performed several firmware updates; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case. The failure mileage was 41,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

Truck lost all power while towing a trailer driving on the highway. Got it over to the side of highway and lost all power and wouldn't start after parking. Dealership jad truck for over 6 weeks and replaced the motor and would not reset the milage due to manufacturer not allowing it. Since then my rods have a knocking noise occuring while vehicle is running and doesn't sound normal. Rubs rough since the engine replacement.

Engine failure at highway speed. My wife and I were driving approximately 65 miles per hour when suddenly my vehicle engine RPMs shot up but I lost all engine power and the truck became inoperable. Stranded out of state. No loaner or safe alternative transportation offered. No repair timeline provided. GM Case #: 9-15084178121. GM Customer Care provided no help whatsoever.

We were lied to by Sandy Sansing Chevrolet in Pensacola Florida. We bought a 2023 GMC 1500 SLT 6.2 liter engine (L87 V8 gas powered engine. We were told that there was nothing wrong with it and it was a previous owner that owned it. When in fact it was sold at auction! There were no problems or issues when in fact they new about serious issues and problems. GMC was able to listen to my issue and recall. And offered no solutions. I have grandchildren and my wife and I are Veterans. I’m [XXX] and my wife and I were both beside ourselves and scared of being in a accident every time we get in. We are both petrified while driving. My local GMC dealership has no remedy! We’re stuck with a truck that and who knows how long it takes for a NEW ENGINE! I cannot finish buying a Travel Trailer and see the country like we had planned! Can somebody please call me as soon as possible please. Thank you, [XXX] . I just left the gas station from getting a beverage, I got onto the interstate and had gone roughly about 3 miles before setting super cruise a few minutes after that the interstate takes a turn to the left with an exit on the right. Slightly right as I was just getting into the turn my engine shutoff and or died making my truck uncontrollable causing me to drive off the interstate into some small trees between the exit and the interstate. I was not injured and no other vehicles were involved. My truck is currently at the insurances storage yard and they care claiming it to be totaled. I have contacted GM and filled a claim however they are saying they aren’t responsible because the insurance company has my truck. I feel like regardless of who has my vehicle the manufacturer should be responsible if the issue pertains to a specific recall that has already been issued 2 weeks after my accident. I have contacted several lawyers but since I wasn’t injured they aren’t interested in taking my case. My concern is I’m getting screwed over financially because my truck was only a year old and now my insurance is going to be crazy expensive when the manufacturer should be the one taking responsibility for this and not myself.

Gm has acknowledged there is a safety risk to continue driving my truck due to potential engine failure. I was prompted to take it to service to have the issue assesed which I did. The dealer said they would not inspect it because there is no resolution approved. I offered on 45/1/25 to pay them to check it out but they refused. This is dangerous and unacceptable, I hope you can help.

SERVICE BRAKES
While driving on the highway warning lights for ABS, Check Engine, traction control and towing disabled came on. Also, the truck was limited to a speed of 62 mph. When attempting to apply the brakes the peddle went to the floor and the truck was extremely hard to stop. Power brakes were gone and manual braking was the only way to stop. After pulling over and restarting the truck the power brakes came back. The truck was taken to the dealer and they claimed the truck needed some updates and was fixed. About four months later this same problem occurred again while coming to a stop causing the truck to miss a stop sign and enter an intersection. The same lights came on and the trucks speed was reduced. After restarting the truck the power brakes started working again and the truck was dropped off to the dealership. The dealer looked into the problems and said the truck needed computer updates but found no other problems. Driving this truck has become nerve racking not knowing if the brakes will stop working again.

ENGINE
The 6.2 liter engine spun the #1 and #3 crankshaft bearings. This was confirmed by the selling dealership, Guess Motors, who performed the engine teardown. This complete engine failure was not foretold by any warnings whatsoever. I was able to drive vehicle to the dealership before it stopped running. The dealership has ordered a replacement entire engine from GM however no delivery date has been received and this occurred on 04-04-2025. On 04-24-2025 GM issued recall # N252494001 on this engine configuration.
