  This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles with a "Service Charging System" message displayed on the Driver Information Center and/or a low voltage reading on the volt gauge during the first several minutes after a cold start. Technician may find a Diagnostic Trouble Code B15517 sym 03. If this concern only occurs during the first several minutes of a cold start, no repairs should be made. Dealer should communicate to the customer that this is normal operating characteristic of vehicles equipped with the diesel engine.

  This information was created to inform the technician that the 2-3 upshift and the 3-2 downshift clunk is caused by the releasing of the 2-4 band and application of the 3-4 clutch assembly during an upshift. Also during a 3-2 downshift, the releasing of the 3-4 clutch during the application of the 2-4 band, can cause torque reversal down the output shaft creating a clunk. This is a normal condition.

  Reduced Engine Power with Service Engine Message Displayed and DTC P2263 Set Condition/Concern Some customers may comment on vehicle reduced engine power with a Service Engine message displayed. Upon inspection, a technician may find DTC P2263 set. This condition may be caused by snow or ice being ingested into the air cleaner housing and accumulating in the air cleaner element, resulting in restricted airflow into the engine. Recommendation/Instructions Remove the air cleaner element. Refer to Air Cleaner Element Replacement in SI.
