Summary"15008 - SERVICE UPDATE. THIS BULLETIN PROVIDES A SERVICE PROCEDURE TO INSTALL TWO BOLTS ONTO THE TRANSFER CASE ADAPTER HOUSING ON CERTAIN VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 2.5L ENGINE (RPO LCV) AND A 6-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION (RPO MYB). THESE VEHICLES MAY BE MISSING TWO LOWER TRANSFER CASE ADAPTER BOLTS. THIS COULD CAUSE INCREASED VIBRATION AT VEHICLE SPEEDS ABOVE 80 MPH (128 KM/H). CAE ANALYSIS SHOWS THAT THERE WILL BE INCREASED STRESS LEVELS TO THE TRANSMISSION HOUSING, BELL HOUSING, AND ADAPTER HOUSING. IF A VEHICLE WITH THIS CONDITION ALSO HAS A SEVERELY IMBALANCED DRIVELINE AND IS OPERATED AT HIGH VEHICLE SPEEDS FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME, THESE INCREASED STRESS LEVELS COULD LEAD TO CRACKS IN THE TRANSMISSION HOUSING, BELL HOUSING, AND ADAPTER HOUSING. IF CRACKS OCCUR, THE VEHICLE COULD LEAK TRANSMISSION FLUID. WITH ENOUGH FLUID LOSS, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE. ADDITIONALLY, IF THE ADAPTER HOUSING DEVELOPS A CIRCUMFERENTIAL CRACK, THE VEHICLE COULD SUDDENLY LOSE PROPULSION."

SummaryThis Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicle that may have black smoke on a cold start. A dual-pulse injection strategy is utilized during engine cold start to reduce the time required to bring the catalytic converter up to operating temperature. This split injection strategy lasts for about 60 seconds on cold start. This process may cause the customer to see increased black smoke during cold start and should be considered normal.

SummaryThis Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that may have a Service 4WD message on the Driver Information Center when operated below 10 degrees Fahrenheit (-12 Celsius). Technician may find C0398 or C0326 stored in the Transfer Case Control Module. For vehicles with Regular Production Option Code NQH and NQ6 and only setting Diagnostic Trouble Codes C0398 or C0398 and C0326 the replacement of the actuator motor will correct the concern. Dealer will need to contact General Motors Product Quality Center for further assistance. For vehicles with Regular Production Option Code NQH and NQ6 with other transfer case Diagnostic Trouble Codes. If the vehicle had a Diagnostic Trouble Code C0398 in the transfer case control module stored with any other codes such as C0392, C0396, C0306 or other codes related to rotational position sensor or actuator position sensor it is likely that is causing a C0398 to set and replacement of the actuator will likely not repair the vehicle. For vehicles with Regular Production Option Code NP0 and only have a Diagnostic Trouble Code C0398 stored in the transfer case control module, the technician should insure the transfer case control module calibrations are up-to-date in Tis2Web.
