I had my oil changed and the next day the check engine light came on. I looked on the Chevy app to see what it was and it said Varuable Valve timing issue. I Click further into the app warning and it said, Engines equipped with this system use sensors that regulate the opening and closing of the intake and exhaust valves to optimize performance and efficiency. I live 3 and a half hours away fro. The dealership so I had some mechanics look at the truck just to see if they could pin point what the issues was exactly. They didnt pull or work on anything just looked around listened and plugged in a code reader. The code reader found some codes that had to do with 3rd stage valve timing issues and VVT. And 1 or 2 other codes. But they didnt know exactly what was wrong. I had my oil changed 1 more time to see if maybe that was the issue. It did not fix the issue. I called the dealership to make a appointment. I brought it in and get a call that the cam shaft need to be replaced. It was in the shop for about a month and when they said it was ready. I went to pick it up and as I was pulling out of the dealership parking lot. The check engine light came on and I drove back and it had the same codes. And now it is being worked on again. The safety side is if it looses power while im going 65 mph it could be really dangerous. Becaue there could be metal shavings in the oil possibly.

I am writing to report a serious safety concern involving my 2024 Chevrolet Silverado that resulted in a child being locked inside the vehicle with the key fob present inside the car. On March 25 2026, after parking and turning off the vehicle, I exited the driver’s seat with my key fob inside my purse, which remained in the front of the vehicle. I then walked around to remove my daughter from the back seat. During that time, she climbed into the front seat and pressed the interior door lock button, locking all doors. My daughter has autism and is not able to follow instructions or unlock the vehicle on command. As a result, she was locked inside the vehicle with the key fob present inside, and I was unable to gain access from the outside. The vehicle did not prevent the lock from engaging, nor did it allow me to open the door despite the key being inside the vehicle. This situation required emergency assistance (911) to safely remove her from the vehicle. I understand that many vehicles have “lockout prevention” features; however, in this case, the system did not account for a vulnerable occupant inside the vehicle. Allowing the vehicle to be locked from the interior while the key fob is inside—and without any external override—creates a significant child safety risk. I am requesting that Chevrolet review this design behavior as a potential safety issue, specifically: - Why the vehicle allows interior locking when a key fob is detected inside - Why there is no external override to unlock the vehicle when the key is present - Whether a software update or safety feature enhancement can address this risk This is not just a convenience issue—it is a safety hazard that can lead to dangerous outcomes, especially for children or individuals with disabilities. Please confirm receipt of this concern and advise whether this issue has been previously identified or is under review.

My truck engine stopped working while driving down the road causing me to lose power and I was not able to exit the roadway. There were no warning or messages until the loss of power and dash stated to "restart the engine". This was not possible. The truck was towed to a Chevy dealership and they confirmed the engine seized up do to unknown engine failure. This is a 2024 6.2L engine with 45000 miles that is NOT under recall. The dealership replaced the engine under the powertrain warranty.

While driving in heavy interstate traffic on March 18, 2026, the vehicle suddenly downshifted hard to 2nd gear, locking the rear wheels and causing the vehicle to slide out of my lane. The truck then entered limp mode and appeared to be stuck in 2nd gear. I immediately called my chevy dealer to make an appointment to drop the truck off. While researching, I found there was a recall for the same vehicle symptoms, but my truck falls outside of the recall. The truck is currently at the dealership for a valve body replacement, due to a KNOWN issue with the Allision transmission where TSB's have been issued. Chevrolet should be more proactive and recall the trucks, and replace the transmissions instead of a bandaid fix, before someone with less driving awareness/experience is involved in an accident

I was driving down the highway and the vehicle suddenly shutoff without any warning. I coasted down an off-ramp and came to a stop in the middle of a round about. The vehicle would not re-fire and had to be towed to dealership. When at dealership it was discovered the engine failed. This is a 2024 6.2 liter engine that was not included in recall. I could have caused an accident on the highway as I suddenly lost power. People who were included in this recall received a 10 year 150K warranty on the new engine. My truck should be included in that.

My 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Bison ZR2 (VIN [XXX] ) suddenly lost all power steering, acceleration, and propulsion while driving my children to school at approximately 8:00 AM on March 16, 2026. The truck came to a complete stop with no warning lights or prior indication. This matches the exact ‘critical issue with the engine and transmission system’ alert I received from OnStar Advanced Diagnostics the same morning. Steering was completely unresponsive and I had no acceleration. My children were passengers — this was extremely dangerous. I have not driven the vehicle since and have requested towing to the dealer. Please investigate under any open probes into 2024 Silverado HD power-loss and steering failures. On 1/31/2026, while returning from an AKC event with my XXX year old border collie, I was traveling on IXXX at approximately 70MPH in the left hand lane passing other traffic. As I started up a hill in a remote area, I began to hear a knocking sound coming from the engine compartment that sounded like a rod knocking and the truck began to struggle to continue up the hill. It then lost all power, a message stating to shift to neutral and restart flashed on infotainment screen, I shifted to neutral and pushed the start button, but everything went blank. I had to struggle to merge back into right lane and eventually over to the breakdown lane, approximately 5 miles from the nearest exit. I was forced to remain on the side of a busy interstate for approximately two hours during an unusually cold day for Florida that consisted of snow flurries while waiting for roadside assistance. Luckily, I was able to arrive at the dealership 5 minutes before closing and was able to get my truck checked in. The service writer knew exactly what the likely issue was when I described my ordeal, and it was partially confirmed when she pulled the Christmas tree of codes from the computer that my truck was throwing. It should be noted that the truck would not restart after the catastrophic failure that stopped the motor at 70MPH on the interstate and would not shift to neutral for the tow truck operator to load or unload onto flatbed. Subsequently, Techs determined that engine failed due to suspected internal damage to crankshaft and motor was replaced under warranty along with torque converter. The failed engine serial number was [XXX] but I was never notified or included in current recall 25V274, It did not show as active recall in GM App nor was it inspected during LOF visits at various GM Service departments. My truck was in GM service from 1/31 - 2/21 for the engine replacement, Mileage on 2024 Silverado 1500 High Country was 25,274 at failure. The engine oil cooler failed causing engine oil to leak into the coolant system on my 2024 Chevy Silverado 3500HD. This requires a full replacement of the coolant system. In addition, excessive sludge buildup inside the motor is caused. This is a known issue with GM for 2024 Diesel vehicles. GM has released a service bulletin but is fighting my local dealership on the required repairs.

While accelerating to merge onto the highway, the transmission attempted a shift twice and could not complete the shift. That process causes an aggressive deceleration with each shift attempt. It then slowed, turned on the check engine light and displayed "Reduced Power Mode" - i.e. went into limp mode. The dealer pulled code P0747. The repair is a full transmission rebuild. I did not experience wheel lock up like other people have, but this is the same problem that has been heavily documented.

No Owners Manual came with my Truck. I was made aware of Safety Recall 25V815 (Manufacturer Recall N252532020) which addressed 2025-2026 cars and trucks. Currently my 2024 is not included. I can confirm my dealer did not receive any owners manuals for most cars and trucks in 2024. I notified Chevrolet Customer Service and they did not assist. They Dealer was unable to assist and would not reimburse me for the Owners Manual I purchased. I am requesting reimbursement for the purchase of an Owners Manual.

I own a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV WT equipped with the OEM soft tonneau cover. The original cover and its warranty replacement have both failed in the same way. The cover material appears to shrink over time so that the side flaps will no longer reach and stay attached to the Velcro along the bed rails. At highway speeds the cover flaps and “balloons” upward, and the Velcro strips will not stay connected even when properly installed and tightened. The dealer has already replaced the cover once under warranty, but the replacement has the same problems. This suggests a design or materials defect, not a one‑time bad part or installation error. In my opinion, the flapping and ballooning could allow the cover to come loose or detach at speed, which could create a road hazard for other drivers. I am asking NHTSA to track these failures and evaluate whether the OEM soft tonneau cover on the Silverado EV presents a safety risk similar to prior GM tonneau cover issues where covers detached while driving.

The tailgate has opened 4 times while I’ve been driving. There was one incident in which an object in the truck bed fell out onto the road. Other drivers are at risk for serious injury or death due to objects falling out. I have read other incidents of this happening online to the Silverado 1500 models however Chevy has only issued recalls for the 2500 and 3500 models. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by the dealer and they will be inspecting it in the next coming days. There were no warning lamps or messages indicating failure or that my tailgate was open. I’ve provided photo documentation showing me closing the tailgate as well as a photo of the object falling onto the road.

After taking in to dealer for recall diagnostics and higher viscosity oil change a couple months later. Heard a noise while driving on interstate, lost cruise control, stability system, engine light came on with a ECS. Kept driving on the interstate until we got to a red light and the engine died. Cranked starter but hard to start and ran rough and died multiple times. Feathered throttle to get over 1K RPMs to get it off the street. Towed to nearest Chev dealer. P300 code. Tore engine down. Here is what dealer documented: CUSTOMER STATES CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON WITH SERVICE TRACTION & SERVICE ESC MESSAGES. ENGINE IS RUNNING ROUGH AND WILL STALL. TOW IN. Valve Spring Replacement - Replacing the faulty valve spring on the cylinder 7 exhaust side is necessary as it is causing the exhaust valve to remain stuckopen, leading to engine misfire and over 80% leakage in that cylinder. This service can help restore proper engine compression and improve engine performance. Op.1 CEL -CEL: Customer states 1. replaced the exhaust valve spring and valve spring seal. reinstalled components with new seals and cleared dtcs. started engine and verified the engine starts and runs but having multiple cylinder misfires. reset engine fuel trims and brought engine to operating temperature and let it run for some time. other cylinder misfires went away but still found a dead misfire on cylinder 7. removed and swapped spark plugs with no change. noted the spark plugs have some exhaust build up on the tip due to the faulty exhaust valve spring. performed a static compression test and found the compression to be 175 psi and a running compression test with a smooth build up to 125 psi. checked spark and spark was good. tested the injector system using the AFIT test and found the test to pass indicating no faults with the fuel injectors. performed a cylinder leak down test and found no cylinder leakage coming from cylinder 7. put engine back together and cleared dtcs. reset the throttle

GM replaced engine after a complete failure associated with a defective engine recall. The remanufactured or new engine installed seems to have a similar defect as the original engine. Returned vehicle for service and was told GM refused to repair or replace the engine until the vehicle suffered another complete engine failure. Regardless of any safety concerns of an another complete engine failure.

At just over 36,000 miles, the vehicle randomly started jerking to either side of the road. It's not continuous and happens at random intervals while driving. Sometimes the steering wheel would jerk with the movement of the tires, other times, it felt as if the steering wheel had disengaged for a moment. The first time it happened, we were traveling on a highway at 55mph and were jerked towards oncoming traffic. I immediately stopped the vehicle and turned around to head back home at a safer rate of speed. The steering issue continued numerous times until my arrival at home. This issue just happened today, so it has not been inspected by anyone yet. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other indications.
