Summary"Service Action: Repair Corrosion Protection on the Trunk B+ Connector. The corrosion protection on the outside of the trunk (back of rear right-hand wheel arch) around the battery positive connector is insufficient, and leads to corrosion on the body. AFFECTED VEHICLES This Service Action involves F30 vehicles which were produced from 9/2011 to 10/2012. In order to determine whether a specific vehicle has had this Service Action completed or is affected by this Service Action, first check the B-pillar label for code number 645. If code number 645 has been punched out, the campaign has already been performed. If code number 645 has not been punched out, it will be necessary to utilize the ""Service Menu"" of DCSnet (Dealer Communication System) or the Key Reader. Based on the response of the system, either proceed with the corrective action or take no further action."

SummaryThe Service Engine Soon Lamp On with Post Oxygen Sensor Faults Stored. The Service Engine Soon (MIL) lamp is on and the following faults are stored in the DME fault code memory. BN2000 (E-Series) vehicles: * 2D22: Oxygen sensor downstream of catalytic converter, electric: open circuit BN2020 (F-Series) vehicles: * 12AB04: Oxygen sensor downstream of catalytic converter, electric: open circuit * 12AC04: Oxygen sensor downstream of catalytic converter 2, electric: open circuit These faults may occur sporadically after a long MSA engine stop. Unfavorable DME software diagnostics (fault is erroneous) This software error affects vehicles produced from 3/2013 to 6/2013, as well as older vehicles which have been programmed during service work to a current integration level of Xxxx-13-03-5xx.

SummaryN20 and N26 Engine: Various VANOS System Faults Stored in DME. The Service Engine Soon lamp is illuminated; Engine Malfunction warning is illuminated; and the vehicle has reduced power output. Various faults related to VANOS operation are stored in the DME. While performing the test plan, the results may appear to be inconclusive because the fault will not clear from DME Fault Memory. The ISTA/D diagnostic test plan does incorporate a VANOS bleed function, but it does not advise the technician to bleed the VANOS system after a VANOS or engine oil supply component replacement. CAUSE This is due to an error in the current level of ISTA/D. The error will be corrected with ISTA/D 2.41.0.

SummaryHV Battery Expansion Valve Sticking. The high-voltage battery is cooled by refrigerant as part of the vehicle's AC system. It is regulated using an expansion valve at the base of the battery itself. This expansion valve can become stuck in the open position, either intermittently or permanently. Fault code 21F107 - Cooling valve: valve couldn't be closed will be stored in the SME. CAUSE 1. Excess material from the manufacturing process can become lodged in the valve, causing it to stick open. 2. The diagnostic software in the SME control unit is not robust enough and can lead to a fault being set when a particular threshold is reached, despite the fact that the valve is not actually sticking.

SummaryElectric Vacuum Pump Intermittent Failure. The check engine light (CEL) is illuminated and the MSA malfunction check control message is present. No electric driving is possible. This situation may be intermittent or permanent. The following fault codes are stored in the Electric Machine Electronics (EME): * 2202ED - Brake-servo assistance: Mechanical ventilation flap control blocked, time threshold 2 exceeded * 2202EC - Brake-servo assistance: Mechanical ventilation flap control blocked, time threshold 1 exceeded CAUSE Internal mechanical failure of the electric vacuum pump. If intermittent, this leads to reduced vacuum and thus the associated fault codes. If not repaired, the amount of damage to the pump will increase to the point of a permanent failure.
