The heating system in my 2022 Porsche Taycan stopped working. In addition to it not being able to heat the cabin, I can't defog/defrost the windshield making the car unsafe to drive. I'm told by the Porsche dealer that this is a known issue, and the fix involves ordering a part from Germany with unknown ETA.

I was driving at high speed on the freeway when, suddenly and without warning, the vehicle lost all power. A message reading “Electrical System Error Park Vehicle in a Safe Place”. I was able to glide across five lanes in rush hour traffic to the breakdown lane.

Vehicle heat all of sudden not working. Thus, unable to operate vehicle due to condensation on windows limiting visibility, in addition to cold cabin air. Car dropped off at Porsche dealer, and they confirmed no part availability to fix this widespread issue with Taycans.

High voltage heater unit stopped working. Unable to defog front windshield leading to dangerous loss of visibility, in addition to unable to heat cabin. I see LOTS of similar reports online. At dealer, awaiting part which will take weeks.

I have 71 documented cases of Porsche Taycan heating systems failing at https://github.com/evstatus/PorscheTaycan/issues/1 The issue affects all Taycan models going as far back as 2020. This is a safety issue that requires that the car be flatbed towed when the heating system fails, as it affects the ability to effectively defrost and defog the windows in cold environments.

No windshield defrosting and defogging in my 2022 Taycan 4S (purchased new a year ago). Impaired visibility. No heat in passenger compartment. Dealer found electric heater failed and needed replacement. The high-voltage electric in-line heater heats the coolant used for windshield defrosting and defogging, as well as passenger compartment heat. See attachment for system description. The Taycan electric heater is a critical vehicle component to ensure visibility and avoid crashes. In the last 2 years, over 70 Taycan owners (US, Canada, Europe) have reported Taycan electric heater failures in online forums. Three owners have had a second Taycan heater failure a year after the first heater was replaced. Taycan model years 2020, 2021 and 2022. See attachment for owner online posts with URLs.

The display is one LED unified panel and it goes dark and loses its ability to function while the car is in motion. It will prompt you to reboot while the car is in motion. In order to reboot the system driver must lean forward toward the passenger seat left portion of the screen and take 1 hand off the wheel to reboot and takes ones eyes away from the view plane of the road for more than 5 seconds

The vehicle has stalled out repeatedly while driving. When starting from an intersection it will lose all power and a turtle icon shows up on the screen and the car will not move more than 5 MPH. After rolling to a stop, and restarting the car drives okay. Then a few days or a week, month later, it happens again. Also, the PCM repeatedly weekly, fails to boot up and I have no backup camera or controls of the car. The dealer erases codes and gives the car back, they don't know what's wrong.

When driving the vehicle, the center console screen (the Porsche Communication Manager), spontaneously went blank/black. The screen appeared to reboot while the car was on and froze with the word "PORSCHE" across the center screen. The screen inoperable while the car was in motion. The navigation, climate control, back-up camera, radio, and many other controls are all utilize through this center touch screen. Those were all inoperable until the car was stopped, turned-off, and then turned on again.

While the vehicle is in both Drive and reverse, the car randomly will shift itself into either neutral or park without warning. The first event occurred while in reverse and actively moving, the car shifted into neutral on its own. No warning lights or messages appeared. The following 2 incidents, while driving on city streets, at a stop sign in one instance and at a stop light in the other, the car shifted into park within seconds of the vehicle coming to a stop. Also, no warning lights or messages occurred. I have contacted my local Porsche dealer to see if there was any service bulletins or a know fix, and was informed that by the service advisor, that she believes this is normal operation because she has heard of it happening. This situation has been dangerous each time it has happened, as I was in traffic, and unaware that my vehicle no longer in gear until I tried to accelerate, and my car was unresponsive. I can’t imagine how your vehicle not being in the gear you put it in, is not a safety concern. I also fear that the vehicle may go into park while at highway speeds, and be catastrophic.

My 2022 Taycan does not show to be one included in the electrical issue recall, however I am experiencing the center screen going dark while driving. Only had the car a little over a week, and it has happen twice, both times on the freeway. Not going slow or stopping, about 60-70MPH. went off for about 20-30 seconds then came back on.

- #11476620July 29, 2022SERVICE BRAKES
There was a different amount of pressure needed to apply to the break when at lower speeds vs higher speeds. At lower speeds there was less responsiveness to the breaks and more pressure was required to stop the car. We brought the car to the dealer and dealer reported the car was fine. The problem persisted and an error message came on that said "break fluid low- bring to dealer". The car was brought into dealer again and the dealer flushed the break system and put new fluid in. The problem continued to persist and the dealer replaced the break booster fixing this issue. Our safety was at risk because the breaks were malfunctioning.

The car shifted from drive to park twice within a 10 minute drive unexpectedly. Both times occurred while driving under 5 mph and stopped at a traffic light. This is a brand new car with less than 2000 mi on it.

- #11476601July 29, 2022ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:PROPULSION SYSTEM:CHARGING:CABLE/CORD:ACCESSORY
While charging was in progress using Porsche's app at a charging station of Electrify America, the charging process suddenly stopped, when I switched from the app to an email app. And since the charging station displayed "Please unplug", I was unplugging a charging cable from a Taycan's charging port, then there was an explosion at the port with an ear-splitting bang and a large spark. The car dashboard then displayed "Electrical system error" and was totally unmovable, so it was towed to a dealer on 6/18/2022. The dealer contacted the manufacturer, but the car is still not repaired even though 40+ days have passed, which is unreasonable. I found the below article and suspect whether it's related with the "inexpensive onboard charger": - An excerpt from: https://www.teslarati.com/porsche-whistleblower-taycan-battery-charger-fires-coverup/ "Porsche uses an inexpensive onboard charger that does not control the process well, the whistleblower explained to me in detail. Fires have occurred in the Taycan battery, the source explained, due to the problem described."

When the car was in Drive (D) mode but stationary at a red light, it abruptly went in to park (P) without any user intervention. Had to reengage the drive mode to move forward. Problem has occurred at least twice before (months apart) without any reproducibility. I did bring it to the dealer once but they did not find any abnormal logs. Latest occurrence on 7/6/2022 at approximately 6:15 PM Lost power steering assist completely in my driveway while backing out of the garage in reverse mode. No warning signs on the cluster. Could not turn the car. Only way to get power steering assist back was to turn off the car completely, wait for 10 seconds and turn it back on again. Incident happened on 7/7/2022 at 7:45 AM
