  Summary

  Some customers may complain of condensation/fog inside the front (headlamp/headlight) or rear (taillamp/taillight) combination lights. The recent new models have been fitted with a clear lens which can cause the symptom to be more noticeable, however, it does not affect the performance of the light. This condensation/fog is a natural phenomenon that occurs when there is a fairly large temperature difference between the inside and the outside of the light housing. It is normal for very small water drops to appear incertain locations on the light units where the air is stagnant (condensation), making the lens look whitish (fog). This happens mostly in the corners and narrow spaces, and will typically clear during warmer ambient temperatures, or when the lights have been on for some time.

  When dealing with customer complaints of excessive condensation and/or water within the headlamp unit, first determine if all the bulb sockets (including O-ring), seals and covers are present and correctly installed. In most cases you will find that the Bulb Seal No. 1 (A) or HID Bulb Seal No. 1 (B) and Bulb Seal No. 2 (C) socket covers have not been correctly installed or are missing due to improper prior repairs (i.e., customer replacing the headlamp bulbs or body shop not transferring them when replacing the headlamp unit(s) due to a collision). Any damage caused by missing socket covers, HID module seal (D), or missing bumper brackets (E) is not covered by warranty policy.

  In accordance with Federal regulations, follow the procedure listed below when replacing a speedometer. NOTE: Tampering with a motor vehicle odometer is strictly prohibited by Federal, and State laws. It is the dealer?s responsibility to comply with Federal, State, and local laws concerning odometerand related documentation requirements when providing a repair or replacement. Mazda vehicles are manufactured with tamper-proof speedometers. When a speedometer is replaced, the new speedometer will read zero (0) miles. This procedure is extremely important to accurately represent actual vehicle mileage. Prior to speedometer removal, complete the information required on the ?SpeedometerReplacement Label?.Labels can only be ordered through Mazda eStore. In an effort to achieve a higher level of Customer Experience and retain the value of Mazda?s vehicles, MNAO Warranty Operations is allowing all Mazda dealers to utilize a third party, SPECMO Enterprises, Inc., for Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) odometer setting service.With the use of SPECMO?s services, a Mazda dealer can get the odometer setting updated to reflect the correct mileage at the time of replacement for both warranty and customer pay repairs, therefore resulting in a higher level of customer satisfaction. In order to do this, MNAO is collecting inflators for evaluation in certain zones. For 2003-2008 Mazda6 (including Mazdaspeed6) and 2004-2011 RX-8: Collect 30 Driver-side and 30 Pas-senger-side inflators (60 total) from vehicles that have completed Recall 8215F for Driver-side and Recall 9416E for Passenger-side airbags in the following zones. For 2010-2013 Mazda3: Collect 200 Passenger-side inflators from vehicles in the following zones.

  Some customers may complain that the ambient temperature display is not accurate, or it takes too long for the display to show actual temperature. When you encounter a customer with this concern, first verify the condition when the customer noticed this symptom. If the condition is similar to the following "CONTROL LOGIC OF AMBIENT TEMPERATURE" or "DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TEMPERATURE DISPLAY AND OTHERS", advise the customer that this is a normal characteristic of the vehicle and not a malfunction. If the condition does not meet the following and the sensor malfunction is suspected, make sure to inspect the sensor according to MGSSonline or Workshop Manual (section 09-22 AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR INSPECTION). Replace the sensor only when it fails the Workshop Manual inspection.

  When installing a navigation SD card, confirm that the card is unlocked. Also, Mazda Does Not Recommend swapping navigation system SD cards from one vehicle to another for testing. If swapped, the SD card that is installed into the other vehicle becomes “linked” to the VIN of that vehicle.
