Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Jeep Renegade vehicles manufactured August 25, 2014, to June 25, 2016, equipped with a factory-installed optional trailer hitch package. The trailer hitch assembly may have been attached with only a single fastener per side, not three per side as required.
Daystar Products International, Inc. (Daystar) is recalling certain aftermarket replacement rear control arm brackets included in Daystar's 2015-2016 Jeep Renegade 1.5" spacer kit, part KJ09168BK, shipped from Daystar to distributors between October 27, 2015 and November 5, 2015. The affected spacers may have improper or incomplete welds on the top flange on the rear control arm bracket, that can allow the rear axle to shift while driving.
While driving on the freeway at approximately 65 mph with my family in the vehicle, including my fiancée, my [XXX] son, and my fiancée’s mother, the engine suddenly began making a grinding noise that lasted approximately 10 seconds. The engine then began knocking, and the vehicle abruptly shut off, leaving me unable to continue driving. I was forced to maneuver toward the nearest available safe location, but there was no immediately safe place to pull over. I narrowly avoided being hit by other vehicles while trying to get off the freeway and ultimately had to stop on an offramp. This sudden engine failure created a serious safety hazard for my entire family and other motorists. I had to arrange an Uber to transport my fiancée, my young son, and my fiancée’s mother home while I remained in an unsafe location near the freeway waiting for a tow truck. The incident was frightening and emotionally distressing for everyone involved. I believe the failure may involve internal engine components, but the exact cause has not yet been determined. The vehicle has not been driven since the incident and is currently at a Carvana-owned Jeep dealership awaiting diagnostic inspection. The problem has not been reproduced or independently confirmed because the vehicle has not been driven since the engine shut down. To my knowledge, the vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, law enforcement, or an insurance representative. There were no warning lights or warning messages that I noticed before the failure. The engine noise was the first symptom I observed. The engine and related components should be available for inspection upon request. I am requesting that this incident be investigated because the sudden engine failure at highway speed placed my family, including my [XXX] child, and other motorists at significant risk of a collision. There is an emissions recall on this Jeep; it is currently at the dealership for the repairs. In order to reach the part that must be replaced in order to complete the recall, there is a bolt that is sheared off. The dealership is telling us that we have to pay $3,800 in order to replace the head, because of the bolt being sheared off. This bolt must be removed in order to complete the recall but they are refusing to do this repair at no cost. They cannot do the recall work without removing the bolt. The part the bolt is connected to will have to be replaced. We should not be financially liable to pay for this since it is part of the work required to complete the recall. We've spoken to the FCA recall department and they are refusing to cover the repairs. My husband needs this vehicle to drive back and forth to work. We cannot NOT have the repairs done but we also should not be held financially liable. Because of this recall part failure, the Jeep cuts out while he's driving and it is a safety issue.

Understanding the vehicle is not under wheel stud recall but it needs to be. The exact same thing happened to my Renegade as the recall states. At the Jeep dealer because the wheel came off when my wife was driving. Towed to Jeep dealer and all stud/ nuts are stressed and stretched and causing this life threatening situation. Wrong tourque specs published. Luckily my wife wasn’t hurt or killed. I have attached pictures and video. Talked to Jeep customer care with no help. This is a very serious situation and needs to be addressed.

In the past year, I have already had to replace the bulb for the "daytime running light" on the front passenger side of my Renegade. Now, the light has just popped back onto my dashboard for the 3rd time stating that the light is out again for the 3rd time in a year. I have also noticed several other Renegades in my area driving with the same exact light out on their vehicle as well. The first 2 times I took my vehicle to my mechanic to be repaired, both times they stated all they found was the bulb not working. Being the 3rd time, they have advised me to reach out about a recall to have this fixed.

Electrical warning lights turn off and on on panel. Fob stopped working and car became immobilised blocking traffic. Car towed by AAA to an AAA recommended repair shop, has been there one week, diagnosis leads back to fob and programming/ electrical system. Battery checked and was not an issue. Fob and electrical programming systems is the issue. I will have itemized receipts once fob/programming work is completed.
